Musicians of 7 cups.

I was surprised to come here and not see anything about the therapudic value of making music. I play many instruments but am out of practice because depression makes me lose interest in things I enjoy. I am trying to get back to playing but it has been difficult. Does anyone else have this experience?

Hey @Wally203

I also have been playing piano for a long time in my teen years but have given up letting circumstances decide the faith of my passion. I've been trying to go back but it seems pretty hard as I am already feeling like I forgot almost everything and I don't know exactly what path might be more useful to approach now.

I agree music has a fantastic therapeutic ability and I haven't seen people telling that in here either but it's always a start! So we shall share this thread and gather musicians around here, why not?

I feel like this would be quite an interesting topic for a longer forum post or maybe even a discussion.

hey @wally203, I'm out of playing instruments for the time being due to injury. I know it's pretty hard to get back into it but I promise once you start again it's the BEST!

When I came here, I too was surprised that I came across very few people here who appreciated Music and found it to be therapeutic activity. I'm a Drummer. I started playing when I was 10 and continued to play for a good 8-9 years and then I had to stop for 2 years due to some unpleasant circumstances. But now I am back at it again. A little out of practice but I have been playing for a year now. :) I have always wanted to learn Jazz on it, ever since I saw Whiplash! :D I was also a big fan went it came to Piano. Władysław Szpilman is my favourite guy from the Pianist. The guy famous for his Chopin Nocturne C Sharp Minor. It's a must listen to! I also love the Saxophone. I believe Music can be a very powerful remedy if one truely enjoys it. :)

@GodsHumbleServant Nice to see a new post over here. You seem like one of those real muscians with taste like that, jazz and classical are wonderful. As a drummer I would never even attempt jazz, good for you. Record some stuff and throw it up, there are threads for that.

@WalrusWasPaul Thank you so much for those kind words. :) Yes, I do have some compositions. But they are very old. Back when I was 13. My band And I created a couple of songs but we dropped the idea of going mainstream. I'll post the links up here. If I find any new videos, I'll drop the links of those too!

I play bass and learning guitar, my current state of depression is keeping me away from trying to play. But I think I'm going to give it a shoot today!
