Horror music
It may sound strange but a lot of my venting comes through horror scores, same with writing. There's a raw emotional sense to me when I get to design sounds that are heavy. It's less jump scares and more grimy ambiance or melodic dissonance. I feel it helps me let go.

no i totally get this!! horror is my favorite genre of tv/music/any kind of art. you really put it into words, it helps us let go.
Yesss, a lot of my work has stories behind them. Honestly I want to tell horror stories that have healing endings. Like the recovery process through therapy for mental health or addiction.
@Deerpark49 same im a big fan of psychological horror movies
There's so much unexplored potential for the genre. Recovery is a monster in itself as it's never easy to tackle. I use the albums as a way to catch up with where I sit musically while trying to capture the feelings of the characters. Kind of thought about looking for an animator for a song or two. Maybe even explore doing so myself haha.
I can kind of relate to you saying you like horror music sometimes as a form of express. For me I sometimes tend to listen to really dark songs. Sometimes the most darkest and heavy music is the best for me because it expresses how I am feeling and makes me feel more alive and in control of my feelings, emotions, thoughts whatever maybe happening in my life. I have different playlists for these different times and that is one of the genres of music I have a whole playlist with.
