Drawing as a kind of self help
Drawing is a wonderful way to describe your feelings and overcome trauma, just as writing. For therapeutic drawing you don't need expensive things or experience or talent in art. First ask yourself: How does my mind look like? Are there colours? Red, blue, green, black? How many of them? Do they form some kind of structure? Or can you see a methaphorical picture in your head? Like you're hunted by demons or trying to hug your reflexion in a mirror? How does it look like?
Now: Paint. Either with a pencil, acryl, coloured pencils etc. Everything is allowed and there's no ugly here. How does your painting look like?
(You can even only paint it in your head, that works as well if you don't have any paper here)

I am not the most creative and best at drawing, especially when it comes to expressing my feelings, emotions, thoughts, life experiences etc. I often get more frustrated and upset at myself when i have to do act therapy because even if I know what I want to draw, paint, express I can't because of my lack of artistic abilities. But this idea actually seems like something I would definitely try next time i need to express, vent, or use as coping skill or distraction.
I could also seem myself turning some of the questions you asked into writing prompts in my journal or even just as ways of expressing myself when talking to someone or during one of my therapy sessions or groups.
What a great reminder- my favoritie medium is watercolors. They are so unpredictable- and can get very messy and muddy. Since so much of my career was based on tight protocols- I love the freedom of painting.
I don't know if the adult coloring book s is. Considered "drawing" but it helps with my anxiety alot.
