Can't afford new hobbies
I like making crafts or doing creative things, it often helps me feel like I have something I'm good at (worth) or at least something to do (feel productive). However... I've noticed most of the hobbies I'd be interesting in trying, I just can't afford. There are all these little tools or items you need to even do basic stuff...I end up thinking about how much I want to try it, but usually if I don't act on my interests, they fade away. And instead, I'm left doing nothing and just feeling sad. I don't know what to do? Most "free" hobbies don't interest me too much or they don't make me feel very good (such as drawing, writing, etc).
Most recently I'm interested in sculpting, but there's just so much you need for it, and clay itself is so expensive :( How do you balance finding a good hobby with finding something budget-friendly?
Money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure would make a lot of things better, or at least more accessible :(
@FoxPrince i feel you, have also been going through this lately and feeling a bit bummed out
I've always wanted to do sculpting and did a little piece when I was around 15 but I haven't done anything since sold now and like you I don't have the money or the space to even fed up anything like that if I ever did have the money but I've always been very interested in sculpting
@FoxPrince- at least in my community we know the people who work with clay. So would be able to find someone to mentor. Maybe that would be a possiblity for you. Check out art galleries- co-ops that feature someone who produces the kind of art that interests you. A contact to that person may lead you in a new direction- good luck.
I don’t know if you do FB. But if you do you could possibly look up your local “buy nothing” group. I’m part of my local chapter and it has really helped supply my hobbies. I simply ask for the things I’m looking for and if people have it to give they do. It’s also a great way to give back if you’ve lost interest in a hobby. Someone else might want to pick it up.
This is a bit of a delayed response... But what if you found cheapish lessons? Or like a special class at a studio or something? That way, you don't need to buy any equipment you'll just use the stuff that's at the studio.
With that said, I totally understand the struggle of not being able to afford stuff. I so badly wanna flip furniture but the equipment for that is horribly pricy 🙈
@limegreenTown1387 maybe, I recently was looking online for meetings but there seems to be nothing around me. Maybe looking for paid lessons could work if there's any cheap ones...not going to hold my breath though (especially with things still iffy about being around others) 😬 I'd much rather be able to work at home at my own pace/on what I'm interested in, but could be an alternative I guess.
It seems to me that you just haven't found a place where you could be realized. I used to have problems too until I found eostarter.org where I now publish my projects and make a profit. This is a great joint activity and you can also become a participant. Just go to the site and get more information!
@Navaln not only does cryptocurrency sound the opposite of interesting and the site looks super vague and scammy, you clearly have problems with reading comprehension. I already know the crafts I'm interested in, which are HANDICRAFTS, aka physical materials just for fun not for profit, my issue is not "being realized", it's affording the materials for the physical crafts that I'm interested in. Very annoying to be used for advertising 🙄
