I had an awful diet before I became a vegetarian, the biggest plus for me was it forced me to try new things. You're eating a lot better because you are watching what you eat properly.

Vegetarianism is a much more ethical way of eating. In addition, there are a lot of health benefits including improved digestion and cognition associated with being vegetarian. Additional benefits are found with veganism, including clear skin and stronger hair/nails! :)

Read *The Omnivore's Dilemma* by Michael Pollan. He provides an extremely well-balanced discussion of vegetarian vs. non-vegetarian diet impacts on peple, culture, and the environment-- without going into histrionics from either side of the divide. Very helpful arguments.

An often overlooked benefit to becoming vegan or vegetarian is a drasically reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease.

The only con is really iron, when I changed to vegetarian I read online that it was easy to eat this and that to get enough iron, but it isn't, you have to eat to much of the different foods to get enough, and even tough i think I eat a lot I get STUFFED, I can't eat what I need to eat thruout the day, especially since I can't eat nuts either due to oversensitivity that could become an allergic deadly reaction if my immune system is worse the day I eat a nut, otherwise I just get an itch.

I bet you've heard the risk of eating meat, that it hightens risks of cancer, heart disease etc, I wouldn't quiet agree with that, yes it does when you eat to much of it, and thats what humans are doing, overconsuming meat, we're not meant to eat that much meat, just a little bit ( since we're omnivores ). So comparing to the actual amount of meat humans are suppose to eat to becoming vegetarian, it's mostly ethical and enviromental, the animals won't suffer in the meat industry and it won't take such a big impact on the enviroment to keep the meat industry going.

If all the people who eat meat would cut down to the actual amount of meat you're supposed to eat, we would make quiet the huge impact already there without even stopping to eat meat which could also lead to that the animals could live a way happier life before they are killed for food, tough i do agree with the ethical part of actually killing the animal isn't that nice, but I think I got my point clear for people who don't want to stop eating meat. We wouldn't need industries anymore and a good old fashioned farmer and butcher might even be enough.

But if you're not allergic to nuts like me, iron shouldn't be to much of a problem for you smiley
