Need some tips to lose weight

navyCurrent2303 September 4th, 2023

Hi Everyone! I have noticed that my weight is increasing every week no matter how much controlled diet I am eating or moving. What could be the cause of it? I have hypothyroidism and I am in so much stress these days. Could these be the reason for gaining weight? Can anyone give me some tips that I can start doing?

Hi there Navy.

Sounds like this is a challenging issue going on for you. I see you say and admit that you do have Hypothyroidism. And while that in itself could certainly cause some issues with weight, but as long as your levels are being taking care of and treated with medication then it shouldn’t be an issue.

You did not however mention if you were in fact taking meds or being treated? Also do you have regular check-ups to test your blood levels like your TSH and others? As this is important.

You also haven’t stated what type of dietary plan you are following? Or how much or how often you are exercising? Or if you are incorporating enough water/hydration? Or managing your stress levels? …..As all of these things work together to help with weight loss. You do need to be in a calorie “deficit”.

So these are some questions you may want to ask yourself. And also maybe you could try keeping a food log or journal to track what you are eating if you aren’t doing so already that is. Or maybe incorporate a weight loss app (such as My Fitness Pal), or whatever works for you.

Outside of these suggestions, I would have to say if you are doing or tracking all of the above and STILL having issues losing weight, then it may definitely be time to reach out to your Physician/Healthcare provider who can help in determining what could possibly be going on. As maybe you might need more lab work. Or more in depth testing. And perhaps you could even touch base with a Nutritionist to help with your goals? Or your doctor could refer you to one as well.

Good luck on your endeavors and journey. We are here to support you!

I am thinking drinking a lot of water can help! I was having a time with bad eating habits and I was hungry for a long time. I remember drinking a lot of water to stop/surpress hunger and craving. It kind of helps.

Also starting the day with protein rich foods (I recommend one egg) prevents hunger, since it is not a carbohydrate, as far as I know, not %100 reliable info but definitely worth trying.

Take care, 💕

Oh hey I totally skipped the additional information there.

If there is a persistent diet going on you could try green tea to faster metabolism. Also walking a little in a park could help with stress and keeping mind focused :)

Thank you so much for your help guys. I will start following everything suggested here. I just need someone for accountability. 🙂

I am in medication for thyroid but my levels are still not adjusted. My doctor is still figuring out the right dose for me. Also, I am not on any special diet just trying to eat less and be in calorie deficient. But the more I think about eating less the more I want to eat. 😄 So I will try with the water trick.

Thank you again 😇
