Healthy Portions - How to nail them?

I’m currently in recovery from an array of things, and it is quite tough to start treating my body well again and simply knowing how a normal, healthy person looks like.


It just feels like I need to relearn the basics and I get so anxious. I eat super fast as well that it’s related to all that anxiety.


So if you have tips on portion control, what healthy portions look like and all, and how to teach yourself to eat slowly, feel free to share your experiences!

Hey there Hope!... Great questions! So sorry to hear that you are recovering from some things that have affected your health including anxiety about how to deal with it all.... We wish you well and hope that you are on a road to your best recovery!

I would first have to ask if you have talked to your healthcare provider about basic nutrition. Or at best, if you healthcare provider has recommended and suggested to you to talk to a nutritionist that can help you in your recovery and with your basic needs. Since we aren't exactly aware of what health concerns that you have had?!...

But basically, there are some simple rules that you can follow in knowing what correct portion sizes look like. And also how to set up your plate to include each food group!... I am including pictures for you to take a look at.

The bottom photos are simply the same thing, just shown in different ways. Which shows how you can choose your serving sizes if you dont' have a food scale or if you are out and about.

The "MY PLATE" photo on top, shows you how to actually 'set up" your plate in a healthy way. That includes your basic healthy food groups. Of Fruits, veggies, and grains, and proteins!... Hope all of this info is helpful to you!
