Hi guys!

I am new to this group. I haven't ever commented on here but figured I would pop in. School starts back up in September so I decided I am going to do paleo in order to start losing weight. I feel as though this is the healthiest option. Anybody do paleo or done it before? Anybody have suggestions food wise and maybe workouts? Any advice is helpful. Thanks!

@fighter23 I haven't done Paleo but I have done Primal - which is Paleo but it allows dairy. When I did it I felt great and lost weight. I'm getting ready to start it back up. I found if I allowed myself 3-5 cheats a week, so I didn't go cold turkey on things like pasta and potatoes all at once it went really well, and eventually I had almost no cheats because I just felt so good with the new eating plan.

I also found that if I planned out my dinners - like made up a menu once a week and then did the grocery store with a plan, I was able to stick with it a lot easier. Also prepping snacks and doing some lunches in advance worked great and helped to keep me on track.

@DragonFaerie Hi! Thank you for clarifying. Never heard of primal but happy to hear it worked for you. I have learned that cheating here and there is okay- it's actually very normal and should be done. I know we are supposed to listen to our bodies and not deprive ourselves because it only makes it worse. I will be sure to plan everything out! Thank you for sharing. Good luck when you start it up! You got this! :)

@BlindFaith

The Paleo diet is fromthe word paleolithic, basically caveman times, so things that are part of the diet are those that a caveman might have eaten, lots of vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, a few eggs they might have found in a nest. If you imagine what a caveman might have had available when there was no farming or agriculture yet,.

Their exercise might be fast sprints catching a wild boar , carrying heavy weights as they carried the carcas home, then they would roast the meat, or they would work hard to catch a fish or a bird and roast them. Potatoes are a 'cheat' carb. Rice the same, imagine how much work to actually find enough rice plants and then gather enough rice!

Crossfit is very linked to the Paleo diet :) Maybe look at that.
