How FOOD affects your MOOD
FOOD IS A HUGE PART OF NOT ONLY PHYSICAL HEALTH, BUT MENTAL HEALTH AS WELL!!!
This is a forum to share how food has affect you life and how what you eat, impacts you mental health!
@OCDLena good thread. Some people have food allergies they are unaware of. It's good to get that checked out with your healthcare provider. The best I've felt was when I stopped eating fast food completely and started supplementing with vitamin pills. My mood enhanced when I took vitamin D pills. I started eating a diet of about 80% fruits and veggies for several months. Please consult with your doctor before trying any new health plan. I did what I needed to for my body at the time. We are all different.
I cut dairy out of my diet and I am amazed at how great my body feels. The dairy was making my whole body inflammed. Now I'm not as sore and I feel much better. I would recommend to everyone to try for a month and see if there is a differenc.e
So true about the dairy. I went on a vegan diet a few summers ago, and I felt amazing. My mood was so positive and my body was loving not being weighed down by the sugars and fats found in dairy. I recommend it as well!
This reminds me of people saying they eat lots of watermelon because it's good and healthy but the sugars make you hungry and then you gain weight. I'm glad you're feeling better!
I love this thread! I've become so much more self conscious of what I put into my body because eating the wrong things has the tendency to throw my body all out of whack. I have anxiety so for one thing, I know I can't have anything with caffeine in it. It causes me to get chest pains and major headaches. I've been really trying to eat healthier and I've started to adopt an organic diet. Since adopting this diet, I've felt so much better and I've had a lot more energy!
I actually started eating lots of fruits and veggies because the food I was eating made me gain a ton of weight. I was probably the heaviest ever about 4 months ago and when I saw a photo of myself in my phone one day I decided it was time for a change. It's totally worth it. Eating lots of lettuce wraps in place of tortillas as well and drinking a gallon of water a day has gotten rid of my horrible bloating and migraines that i used to have a lot.
Personally I have IBS (nice) which gives me pain if I eat the wrong foods. If I were to eat dairy for example of eggs, it causes me to block up when going to the loo. This has caused me to lose weight when being diagnosed with this as dairy is one of my favorite treats (ice cream)
Ever since I became vegan, I noticed a lot of my anxiety went down. In addition, I began thinking clearer, was generally happier, and had a lot more energy!
I find eating bananas regularily (one a day most days) tends to help keep my mood stable. i am trying to up my omega-3 intake through more fish and walnuts, but i have not yet seen a difference (this is in combination with a much healthier diet over the last year, and loads more exercise, so figuring out what is responcible for mood changes is tricky, but overall everything has been positive)
