How do you apply critical thought to gain better mental health?

RedStar01 October 19th, 2023

Which questions do you enjoy asking yourself the most when reflecting on things you create in your imagination? How important is it to you to know and anderstand how close your thoughts are to the realm of reality or fiction, to what degree of logic or rationality they maybe based on?

What do you do to raise the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction knowing you can stimulate your own mind and guide your own thoughts?

@RedStar01 Thank you for posting a very thought-provoking series of questions.

There are several ways in which critical thinking can be applied to improve one's mental health.

Critical thinking can help us to identify and challenge negative thoughts, evaluate information, cope with stress, and develop resilience.

To improve mental health, try these critical thinking methodologies:

- Challenge negative thoughts and beliefs: Identify and question negative thoughts and look for evidence to the contrary.

- Evaluate information: Assess sources, credibility, and biases before making decisions.

- Cope with stress and emotions: Identify sources, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and challenge negative thoughts.

- Develop resilience: Learn from mistakes and develop problem-solving skills while maintaining a positive outlook.

Which questions do you enjoy asking yourself the most when reflecting on things you create in your imagination? How important is it to know and understand how close your thoughts are to reality or fiction and to what degree of logic or rationality they may be based?

As an imaginative creator, I ask myself:

- What inspired me?
- What's my message?
- What emotions do I want to evoke?
- How can I improve?

I aim to balance logic and relatability while exploring complex themes in thought-provoking and entertaining ways. I'm unafraid to push the boundaries of reality and experiment with my imagination.

What do you do to raise the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction knowing you can stimulate your mind and guide your thoughts?

I love to stimulate my mind and guide my thoughts. New ideas and exploring different perspectives challenge me. Completing a creative project gives me a sense of achievement.

To feel mentally stimulated, I:

• Read widely and expose myself to new ideas.
• Write regularly to organize my thoughts.
• Solve puzzles and play games to challenge my mind.
• Engage in conversations with thoughtful people.
• Reflect on my thoughts and experiences.

These activities make me confident in my critical thinking and decision-making abilities.

I am anticipating the comments of other optimistic and intellectual members and listeners.

@FeureVox

Thanks so much for responding so lively and providing so much valuable feedback. Maybe we have a real opportunity here for creating a shared mind space in this group for critical thought ... I tend to think, using ones creative imagination in an artistic sense, would be less constrained by the consideration of limits to reality.

I like to feel, I'm doing a good job applying my critical thinking ability when it comes to social, political and economic issues shaping our daily reality. It's also quite important to me to reduce the impact of false believes, fake news, propaganda and other mind pollutants on my thought formation process.

It makes me feel a lot better when I visibly understand how some mental influences in our daily life are actually designed to have an irrational, manipulative effect on the public. It's satisfying to know, I can actually avoid risking my sanity and mental wellbeing by having a better grasp on reality applying critical thinking consistently  ... :)

Which questions do you enjoy asking yourself the most when reflecting on things you create in your imagination? I don't ask any question because I don't imagine at all.

How important is it to you to know and understand how close your thoughts are to the realm of reality or fiction, to what degree of logic or rationality they maybe based on? I am quite aware of reality, my subconscious does not share my point of view. It reacts not based on what I know but what i feel.

Knowledge alone does not seem to be the answer.

What do you do to raise the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction knowing you can stimulate your own mind and guide your own thoughts? I am unable to feel pleasure or satisfaction.
