Discussion advertising
There used to be guidelines about advertising a discussion in other group rooms, is this no longer the case?
In a discussion there were 2 different advertisements that happened during, and what seemed especially off to me was one was for a listener sharing circle.
If listeners are supposed to support members why encourage them when they are doing so to lleave to go for something for listeners only?
@ASilentObserver
Thank you Affy, you bring up an important issue. To address both of your questions. Discussions are allowed to be announced in other rooms if there is not another discussion going on. If there is a discussion going then you will not post the annoucemnent in that room. For the second question, it's important to support other listeners so they can share what is going on but also be there for the community as well for giving support as well. With this concern in mind, it could of been having this discussion at the same time as the Listener Sharing Circle which can happen.
What do you suggest we do moving forward?
@7CupsCommunity
I don't think listener discussions should be advertised in member support rooms. Non support rooms I'm less concerned about.
I don't know if those advertising are up to date on the guidelines, refreshers may be needed.
I don't think the advertising should be spammy. Ie. When doing it someone shouldn't post to every room and just leave. I know it can be difficult with multiple rooms, but if a room is busy stick there for a minute if someone has a question. If a room is quiet then at least check back in after a little bit to see if there is a question.
I also think we should try to reduce reliance on room advertising overall. Personally I really like having a 7cups calendar but what we have used hasn't been ideal right from the start. I think it's also gotten worse with time. It's no longer linked to group support. The sharing circles add a fair bit of 'noise', making it difficult to find whst I want to see. Some of the viewing options have been removed. I ised to look at the calendar almost daily and sometimes multiple times in a day, especiallyif something I was interestedin was hours away. Like oh, there's something good tonight! Keep in mind for later, verify the time after dinner.I don't go to it much at all now.

Hello Affy,
Since the time you dropped this feedback some measures have been taken to revive and make the community calendar more efficient, such as providing and encouraging leaders with sufficient instructions and help with uploading events on the community calendar.
Other than this we are trying to instate a navigation thread in all subcommunities which reflects scheduled sessions, hopefully in a few weeks we will get all subcommunities situation and release an announcement for the same here in Group Support Forum which contains all the links, so that interested members can subscribe to the ones they prefer.
We have also highlighted the invitation guidelines to our room supporters in several ways, like through welcome documents which state the instructions of sending room invitations, also we encourage our hosts to set an alert/notification for sessions.
About announcing listener sessions in member groups, I think that does not continue now, but will recheck.
About navigation difficulties in the calendar, I hear you on decluttering the calendar and about sharing circle notifications, I think that has reduced with the removal of Healthy Habits Sharing Circle.
Compared to before, how would you rank the accessibility of the community calendar now?
can you please describe the kind of change which would make these calendars more accessible?
I hope I'm not missing addressing any points, feel free to draw my attention to anything I've missed.
