A Refresher On Rule 3 in GS. (7cups vs Crisis Resources)

Welcome back everyone to our refresher posts on the rules of Group Support! My name is Eli and I am a Group Support Mentor Leader and I am hoping to make the rules more clear for those who use the group rooms. For those who have not yet seen the first two posts you can find the refresher on Being Respectful (Rule 1) here and the refresher on Being Appropriate here.
So! Without further ado... Today we will be discussing Rule 3: 7 Cups is not a crisis resource. If you are currently in crisis please visit this page. If you feel a participant is in a crisis, click "Refer" on one of their messages.
What does this mean and why is it important?
Definitions of crisis may vary due to where you may find yourself in life. For example, what 7cups defines as a crisis may be different then your own personal definition. As far as crisis is concerned on 7cups, we are not equipped to handle people who are actively suicidal, self harming, or are currently hurting or abusing others. There are a few reasons for this, mainly being that we do not have the adequate training to help guide people who are dealing with these matters. The counselors on crisis resources have gone through many many hours of training to help those in need, and will be happy to help assist those who we cannot help on 7cups. If you see someone who appears to be in crisis in the rooms, the most important thing to do is to refer their messag and also PM a Moderator on duty.
Thank you all for coming and I will see you next week for our discussion on Rule 4.
