A Refresher On Rule 4 in GS (About Being Overwhelmed in GS setting)

...See more Hi all! Wow it's certainly been crazy for me lately. I recently celebrated a birthday and got to travel home to see family so I haven't been around much. Happy to say now I am back and posts will continue as normal. I will also be rolling out a discussion series this weekend for both adults and teens , starting with Rule 1! Please let me know in the replies of this thread what times work best for you. So without further ado, lets continue! The rule we will be discussing today is.. Rule 4: If feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or do not feel the present environment is aiding in your personal healing, please visit our Browse Listeners [https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/] page to connect with a Listener one-on-one. So... What exactly does this mean? Essentially we at 7cups we want to do everything we can to support our fellow members, but sometimes for that to happen mods must enforce boundaries with those in the rooms so it can remain a safe space for all, Not only that but it's important to remember the structure of the rooms, for example.. TCR/MCR- This room is meant for lighthearted chat only, If a mod notices that you are using TCR for support purposes they might politely ask you to visit a support room or connect 1/1 with a listener. Support Room and Topic Based Support Rooms: These rooms are support based, which means you are welcome to vent about how you are feeling there. Please try to avoid any triggering language or dialogue, If you are expressing that the support environment is not contributing positively to your mental health you may be gently prompted to seek help in a 1/1 chat with a listener. Thank you for joining us! See you soon.

A Refresher On Rule 3 in GS. (7cups vs Crisis Resources)

...See more Welcome back everyone to our refresher posts on the rules of Group Support! My name is Eli and I am a Group Support Mentor Leader and I am hoping to make the rules more clear for those who use the group rooms. For those who have not yet seen the first two posts you can find the refresher on Being Respectful (Rule 1) here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/GroupSupportInformationandUpdates_822/ARefresherOnRule1inGSBeRespectful_246703/] and the refresher on Being Appropriate here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/GroupSupportInformationandUpdates_822/ARefresherOnRule2inGSBeAppropriate_247418/]. So! Without further ado... Today we will be discussing Rule 3: 7 Cups is not a crisis resource. If you are currently in crisis please visit this page [https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026238093-Crisis]. If you feel a participant is in a crisis, click "Refer" on one of their messages. What does this mean and why is it important? Definitions of crisis may vary due to where you may find yourself in life. For example, what 7cups defines as a crisis may be different then your own personal definition. As far as crisis is concerned on 7cups, we are not equipped to handle people who are actively suicidal, self harming, or are currently hurting or abusing others. There are a few reasons for this, mainly being that we do not have the adequate training to help guide people who are dealing with these matters. The counselors on crisis resources have gone through many many hours of training to help those in need, and will be happy to help assist those who we cannot help on 7cups. If you see someone who appears to be in crisis in the rooms, the most important thing to do is to refer their messag and also PM a Moderator on duty. Thank you all for coming and I will see you next week for our discussion on Rule 4. @ASilentObserver @kindSoul10 Crisis Resources [https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026238093-Crisis]

A Refresher On Rule 2 in GS (Be Appropriate)
Group Support / by starcrossedellie

...See more Hello everyone! Welcome to this weeks refresher post about the rules in the Group Support rooms, brought to you by your Group Support Mentor Leader Eli! If you did not happen to see my last post please feel free to take a look here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/GroupSupport_168/GroupSupportInformationandUpdates_822/ARefresherOnRule1inGSBeRespectful_246703/]. This week we will be discussing Rule 2. Be Appropriate: Graphic, flirtatious and sexually suggestive language, profiles, links and content are strictly prohibited. So. What does this mean? And why is it important? (Graphic Language) To break down this part of the rule it's important that we think about the comfortability of everyone in the room. Graphic content or stuff that is inherently violent or explicit can create an unwelcoming place to be for the people who spend time in the rooms, .. Since 7cups is a resource built to help guide people with various mental health challenges, it's important to be mindful that stuff like that is triggering to a lot of others and can make things uncomfortable. (Flirtatious/Sexually Explicit Language) As far as flirtatious language goes, this can also be uncomfortable to the parcipants of the rooms as well, we want to remember that 7cups is not a dating site. There are plenty of other places you can go to date, but a huge reason why we do not allow it here is because it is a distraction from the primary purpose of the site, which is offering active listening in order to help others. A good rule of thumb for Rule 2, if you wouldn't say it in front of Grandma, it probably isn't appropriate for the Group Rooms. For any clarification on if your profile picture is appropriate for the rooms, please reach out to @MidnightRaven999 Take care and see you all next week!

A Refresher On Rule 1 in GS. (Be Respectful)
Group Support / by starcrossedellie

May 10th, 2021
...See more Hello everyone! Recently I have been speaking with other Group Support leaders and we've collectively decided that as a whole we could use a refresher on the rules of Group Support. I notice that sometimes things are confusing and that sometimes we are not entirely sure what the rules are, so I decided I will be rolling out a series of posts on the rules of the Group Support rooms every week. This week we will be discussing Rule 1. Be Respectful: This a place for kind, supportive, open-minded conversations only. So. What does this mean? Essentially what this rule is asking is that everyone in the rooms is kind to each other, even despite differences you may have with others. For example, if you are in the community rooms, there are people who come there from all walks of life. You may not agree with someone or how they live, but it's important to make sure that you are not talking down to someone because of it. 7cups is a supportive resource that welcomes people as long as they agree to respect everyone whether they are a Mod, RS, Listener, or Member. Why is this rule important? This rule is important because it helps how 7cups functions as a whole.. If there is no respect it can make people feel uncomfortable being in the rooms, and can make the platform feel unwelcoming which is definitely not what we hope to accomplish here. In life sometimes you may not always have the same viewpoints or beliefs as someone, but that doesn't mean that they are wrong or are not worthy of respect. Last minute thoughts If you are having trouble following this rule in the rooms please do not engage in confrontation or fights, you can always use your personal mute buttons or take a step back and participate in self care offsite. @kindSoul10 , @ASilentObserver

...See more Latest form here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEUfEDQZdThb6Glhts7CenPpJP5IlypeC_s0yxtAak6HGGhQ/viewform]! Hello everyone, I hope that your weekend is going well. I want to bring to everyone's attention a couple new programs that we launched recently. It is the RS and Mod Buddy Programs. These programs are a good opportunity to help someone who might be newer or less experienced acclimate to roles within the Group Support network. I have been going through the forms and I notice that matching people is a challenge as a lot of new Room Supporters/Mods don't seem to know about our Buddying process! That is why I am making this post, so we can get more people involved so I can begin to pair people up. This is a great learning experience , and also an opportunity to make new friends. Below I will attach the appropriate forms below to be a buddy or have a buddy! You cannot always go it alone! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6TjitBHZ1LbHrR0wUUrN7USooNKnxMcliueVtaZbXtIJjmA/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0&gxids=7757 ^ This link is ONLY for people who have a Room Supporter badge or are a Community Centered or Global Mod seeking an experienced buddy to help them out. Please do not fill this out if you do not have the role. The below link is a link for if you are an experienced RS/Mod and would like to help someone else who is new or struggling. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFoRIWusxtMTzLgm8hdAZ3lDNSquZaPOX4RTVZ5PRMxaswDQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0&gxids=7757 [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFoRIWusxtMTzLgm8hdAZ3lDNSquZaPOX4RTVZ5PRMxaswDQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0&gxids=7757%C2%A0] Best wishes, Eli
