The greatest day of my life
Today is one of the greatest days of my life. It is solely because of my actions on Tuesday July 7th that made this day possible. I broke a rule Tuesday, but the rule needed to be broken at the time. If you are reading this, person I triggered, I am truly sorry for it. Really I am, but in the moment I could not move the chat anywhere else. It was too risky, and I don't know what other people could have experienced if I had moved it. Again, I am very sorry I triggered you.
On Tuesday, I was scrolling up and through the chat in the Share your Story room. I saw a member ask if anyone knew how to stop a big bleeding. I quickly scrolled down to the bottom to see if anyone had picked it up. No-one was really trying to help the guy. Someone threw out that he needed to call EMS. He was just totally fixated on the wound he had. I jumped in and went into First Responder mode, and got him to tie something around his arm above the injury to slow the bleeding. Then I got him to call EMS. I taught him a breathingtechnique to slow his breathing and heart rate to further slow the loss of blood.
By this time, I had triggered the person and was being asked to stop the conversation. I knew I couldn't because the person said it was a big injury. That means if I stop, they could very well die. So I continued much to the disdain of the member.
I just kept them in the chat and relevant, I kept him awake so he would not pass out. Then he said that he was going to try to make it to the hospital ER. He said it was a 40 minute drive for the ambulance, so it may as well have been a 2 1/2 hour walk to the hospital. He left right after saying that. I said my goodbye and logged off.
Today, I was just kinda there passively scanning the chat to see if I wanted to jump in somewhere. Then I saw him say Hi. I caps locked and "screamed" his name. I was so happy that he was there. We got into a conversation about it, about how he owes me his life. How I saved his life. I was just so happy to see him alive. All the other conversations just kinda stopped as we had ours. We talked and he said that he is going to make a full recovery.
This is what 7 Cups is about. Yeah, I broke a big rule. But I saved a life in doing so. It may be on the wrong side of the rules, but I did the human and moral thing to do.
This is the greatest day of my life.
