Previously Blocked/Banned Members Creating New Accounts

Tiare0527 July 18th, 2015

Today I encountered a previously banned member who behaves inappropriately towards/is abusive towards other members. I encountered this person another time and have issued warnings, along with apparently other Mods. After being issued their final warning, they were blocked/banned, and apparently made a new account again to get back into the site. And apparently, they do so EVERY time--likely this wasn't the first time. It's unfortunate that there is no other way for admin/leaders of the site to look in further to such members? Such users create an unhealthy environment for everyone involved, and sometimes they are even egged on with "hearts" from other members. These members make it difficult for others to stay on topic and avoid having their feelings negatively affected.

I keep getting messaged by people saying theyve been banned by mods for no reason and talking very badly about some mods. If someone was indeed banned by a mod for no reason, who can they talk to in order to get their account reinstated? Also, can mods be held accountable for this type of behavior? Thanks :)

they can appeal by emailing community@ i believe

also, we pay attention to who bans whom and how often, so there are checks and balances built into the system to prevent power-mad mods.

@mxcoxie - I believe the best first step to take is utilize the "Group Support Review Form" as that is the purpose of it. They can find it in the chatroom rules section and they should only post honest reviews, not out of anger or dislike towards a mod for no reason or because they mention the chatroom rules to them.

thanks for that info!

I am not yet as well versed in all of the community mgmt processes as I hope to be some day!

@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn - No worries, it is the same for me, sometimes it is hard to keep up with the vast amount of information. In short the form asks them to read some threads and email support if they haven't been unmuted in 24 hours but they should not submit a review through it, if it is about a mute it mentions. That's if the person wants to report a mute in specific and not a behaviour.
