A year later & its now feeling like everything is catching up

A year ago my brother died. Constant health battles, surgeries, months long hospital stays. Cancer was the finishing blow. During the summer, my wife almost died. She got sick out of no where and if we’d been a few hours later to the ER, the infection they found would’ve turned septic. But we got through it. With so much time that’s passed, I should be moving on, right? Is it normal to feel so emotionally all over the place so long after? Every day feels a toss up. I’m a Christian & my faith remains unshaken, but why do these emotions linger? Idk if this makes sense. Or if anyone relates. I guess I just want to know if I’m being dramatic

The thing about grief or reaction is yes it could pop up later we try to stay strong when it happens we think we are through it.

Some odd thing or memory can trigger it and i had a worse time 1 year after a death then i did at time of the death.

Hry azure, thanks for reaching out for support, there are never the right words to send condolences for your brother. it sounds like its been a rough year. im glad that your wife is alright now. that must have been a horrible time to go through. for my thoughts on greif, I belive that its totally normal to feel what you are feeling. Grief does not have a expiration date or timeline. Grief can last a long time. I often dont like the phrase moving on. Maybe moving forward is better language. Your brother will always be a special person in your life, and forgetting him or the pain of loosing him is not gonna go away. I know I can relate. Years and years later, it sometimes feels like it just happened. Some days are easier then others. but grief is journey and can come up for you at different points in life. but especially that your loss did happen so recently. I dont think you are being dramatic. you feelings are vaild. You are not alone in this.
