There are so many things to be grateful for... I should really count my blessings much more than I do.

1. My mother - despite our endless disagreements, or our arguments, she has my back. She's supported me from day one whether it's been through my musical theatre, getting me out of trouble, or always having my best interests at heart. She has made so many sacrifices and continues to do so on a daily basis to ensure that I've had the best of everything.

2. My boyfriend - although I can be the most irritating human alive, he's stuck with me for the past 2 and 1/2 years (almost!) and I couldn't imagine life without him. He's my best friend, my rock and one of my biggest fans. He has my back, no matter what I choose to do - and I know he's always just a phone call away... no matter the time, or the issue, he's there. I love him more than words describe.

3. My dog - it'll be his sixth birthday soon and we've been through so much together - from us thinking we'd loose him at only 3 months old due to a severe heart condition to now - almost 5 years on, and he's the most annoying, boisterious little creature I've ever met. From his endless kisses to his tail-wags every morning... I wouldn't change him for the world. He's my best fur friend.

4. Education - as someone who's soon approaching university (after having to re-do a year due to injury), it strikes me how lucky we are to get free education. People in less developed countries would give anything to have these oppertunities - and sometimes, because it's "the norm" in most Western cultures, we take it for granted but I'm so thankful that I have the chance to grow and better myself as a person. Not only for myself but for my family.

5. 7 Cups - although I'm a fairly new listener here, the feeling of being able to help someone with their issues is amazing. At one point or another, sadly, everyone has to go through their own trials and tribulations - I've been there... we all have, and to have someone to talk too eases the issue. It's a blessing to be able to try and ease other peoples worries and thoughts, and hopefully - one day, they'll go on to help others thinking about how the members of 7 Cups helped them.

6. Time - every day is a new day, with new oppertunities and a fresh start. No matter what happened yesterday, or last year, every day is a clean slate and a new beginning. I am thankful for the time I have to study, to see friends, to spend time with family and loved ones... time is a blessing as you never know how much time you have - never waste that precious time.

7. Freedom of Speech - as someone who's studying very debate orientated subjects (law, politics, etc), I am thankful for freedom of speech as I am able to express my opinions and views freely without being stopped. Personally, a big topic of my debates is the death penalty - which I am massively against. Without freedom of speech, I wouldn't be able to get my views out there and help better the world. Without opinions and freedom to speak our minds - nobody would be able to learn from one another.

8. My friends - throughout the years, I have made many friends (like we all have)... some have come and gone, others have stayed - and I'm so thankful to those who have stood by my side through thick and thin. In this world, there are only a few diamonds in a sea of stones... and I'm thankful to say that (at least, for now) I have found a few of those diamonds.

9. Good health - after battling with laryngitis for what seemed like forever, I realised that although I felt (and probably complained) like I was dying, that in reality, my body was fighting a tiny infection and there are people in this world with much worse conditions - people young and old, suffering through the unimaginable yet I stayed off college and stayed in bed for a week, complaining about how sick I felt without taking them into consideration. I feel guilty for doing that as it didn't take into account anyone elses sufferings (or those who were running around after me all week), and I'm thankful to say I'm (almost) better.

10. YOU - anyone reading this, please know that you are beautiful! Whether you're a listener, member or both... thank you for everything you do, day in - day out. I know that sometimes you may not feel appreciated, but you are, truly! Without you - the world would be a sadder place... in all your efforts, you make this place a better one. People who need help come to you, and you help them - albiet online or in real life. Just smiling at someone as you walk down the road may make their bad day better. As undervalued or underappreciated as you may feel right now - just know that I appreciate you, and so do many other people, friends and strangers alike. Thank you for everything you do.

There are absolutely so many things I am grateful for. Narrowing them down in ten:

1. My family: Without whom I am nothing. They are everything that holds me together.

2. My best friends: If it weren't for them, I would be lonely and alone.

3. Books: It is my only escape when I want to leave the harsh realities of life.

4. 7 Cups: A website that came along as my friend, and gave me somewhere to belong to. A place I felt completely accepted and welcome.

5. My four-year-old cousin sister: Without whom, I don't see myself sitting and writing this today. Without her, I would be an empty shell.

6. My Chemistry teacher: She changed my life in ways it is impossible to speak about. The first person to believe in me. She never gave up.

7. My empathy: I am ever truly grateful for my empathy and my power to put myself in somebody else's shoes and look at things from their perspective.

8. My sensitivity: I have often been told I cry over silly things. Recently, I realised that being highly sensitive, it allows me to enjoy the tiny things in life, otherwise small and insignificant.

9. Writing: the core of my existence is my writing. The ability to put my thoughts into words gives me the ability to touch lives.

10. My struggles: Even though this threw me into a myriad of fears and insecurities. It changed me for the better. I became stronger, kinder and more empathetic. I learnt to find true friends from false ones. I learnt to live.
