You are responsible for your journey in it's entirety, no one else can be blamed for what has happened to you. Being a victim is a way of avoiding responsibility, take control of your life!

So are you trying to say that people that were abused as children are responsible in any way for that? If so, then i totally disagree!!! Some may think they make it through and it blows up on them later in life. I People can make the best of their situation, but to say theyre responsible and "being" a victim is just an uneducated statement.

I agree! One can be held responsible for their choices, but not everything that has happened to them.

It's not about what happened, it's about how you react and respond to it. You can choose to find healing, or you can choose to stay in the issue. Being a victim is a choice, being a survivor is one too.

You have the world at your finger tips, never forget that. You can do anything you want to with your life, but you have to want it. If you stay in a world where you only long for the things you don't have you will forget what you do have.

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."

You are the only one able to control your future and what you will become and yes, you are strong enough to do it. You are fantastic.

I agree with this 100%.

I have lived with someone who played the victim.

There's a HUGE difference between BEING a victim and PLAYING the victim, which is what @Easylistener was getting at.

BEING a victim means you have experienced trauma.

PLAYING the victim means that though you have experienced trauma, you continue to wallow in it and dwell rather than recognizing you have a life to life. You want everyone to cater to you, walk on eggshells, and baby you rather than get over the terrible things that happened and find your happiness.

Just because you were a victim of terrible abuse doesn't mean you have to live forever in the past. Make peace with it and move on and seek recovery to truly thrive.

My Girlfriend and myself are proof of this every day for me.

People don't always want to be helped. It's very difficult to assist those who don't.
