It is the littlest, but the hugest thing for me... it may seem pathetic but I'm posting about it anyway...

I finally changed the ceiling lightbulb in my bedroom, which has been burned out for months. Since maybe August (it's now February). After dark I got around by using my cell phone as a flashlight, and turning on the closet light. I coped, and walked very carefully in the dark.

I was just defeated by having to move the ladder and the bed, as things didn't work out the first time by myself. Ashamed to ask a friend or the landlord for help. That I wasn't independent and capable anymore.

This is what depresssion and anxiety can do to you. Rob you of your abilities to do the littlest things, because you are overwhelmed, or ashamed to ask for help, or tell anyone.

But things have been getting better over the past weeks, slightly, and slowly, and progressively. And today I changed that (insert curse words) light bulb!!!

I am never going to judge anyone again for what they can't get done. I'm going to ask how they are, and if I can help. Depression is silent and sometimes secret, and you don't always know what's really going on in someone's home.

Thank you for being here so I could post this. I'm proud of me, look, I've beaten a light bulb!!!! Lol. Tomorrow, something else. :)

If I can do it, you can do it, whatever beast you are facing. Keep your hope.

Lol I stopped and read this after I read the words "light bulb" because mine have been out for a few months now. I hate asking for help cuz I feel weak and feel like if I do people are going to look at me as weak. Of course this is not the case but as I have anxiety this is how I think. After reading your post however, I'm going to get up and stop feeling so bummed out that it's burned out and change it. It's time to quit feeling sorry for myself and do the things I need to do. Its funny how a story about changing a light bulb can help a person lol thanks for posting. @redKite4725

@KiiWii89

So you get it! You really get it! You _know_. :)

I think there are more of us around in the Light Bulb Club than we thought.

Your reply made me glad I posted, thanks.

I am cheering your mad light bulb-Fu on!

even though I have tried to give up. I really am glad that I lived through it and made me the person I am today. I am much more understanding now and can handle situations better. I'm glad that now that I'm relatively better, I can help others find their path. Even if it's something as simple as a compliment! :)
