Appreciating the Lurkers
Hello! We appreciate listeners. We appreciate members who genuinely seek support. We appreciate mentors and moderators who help the community feel safe and vibrant.
We do, very much do, also appreciate lurkers! Before going ahead in appreciating them, let's understand who really is a lurker and the beautiful role they play in the community.
Chatroom Lurkers: They come into a chatroom and lurk the activity. My strong belief is that they lurk with the motive of appreciating the good they see. And whenever they do see a compassionate and supportive message, they become a heart fairy. What's more, sometimes they sacrifice their lurking if they see someone needs support and they can be a help. Really beautiful work they do. Huuuuuge cheers for them β€οΈ
Forum Lurkers: They lurk for good posts. They also lurk with the motive of finding someone who needs love. As soon as a post wins them, they can't resist but come out of lurking by sending a supportive or appreciative message in the thread. Can you imagine the kind of positive impact the forum lurkers make? Remarkable!
Do you know of a chatroom lurker, a heart fairy, or a resourceful user aware of a lot of useful forum links?
Send them an appreciation here. They highly deserve it.

@Fristo
Hi Frito! (lol) πβ€οΈ Thank you for this great forum post and I couldn't agree with you more.
It's something I have said and for a very long time is that "lurkers need love too". β€οΈ
I might have a different approach to this than others but, I see value in lurking. Historically, that's not me to be the lurker. I'm either all in, or I'm all out. But I can be swayed as well. πI'm starting to see the beauty in my own words from the past and I too may lurk from time to time now. *shrugs shoulders* rare occurrence, but at least I'm following through.
Things I have always said:
There is so much value in lurking. Everyone deserves to feel a sense of community. Some may have anxiety, some may have social anxiety, some may just not feel like contributing that day. There is still benefit there in lurking though by reading the questions and also reading the responses to those questions and learning. πβ€οΈ Yippie!
Sense of community, I feel is really important around here, a sense of connectedness to others. β€οΈ
I love heart fairies! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ Heart fairies of the world, unite! lol! β€οΈ I too, am the self proclaimed, "compassion heart bandit". β€οΈ I show up, front and center, loveeeeeeeeee compassion hearting comments at any opportunity given. Something I have said in the past is "I'm going to appreciate all of us whether we like it or not". haha! π
On the flip side of this, lurkers who have other things in mind. I for one do not like the concept of what is called an "arm chair quarterback". I think it's pretty awful to lurk, take the inventory of others, just sit and watch while the room crashes and burns, not jump in and help if your intention is to simply report others when you could have helped the cause if you have certain skill sets to help and change the course of events. If you were watching, not helping, but have the time to report others, well, it's what I call, "when you point the finger at someone, you have three more pointing right back at you". What were you doing? Did you help? No, you dragged others down.
If you think you can do it better, please jump in, say "hello"π to everyone, *roll up your sleeves", help and teach us all the better path. Please lead by example.
*high fives* π and *hugs* β€οΈ
I've lurked (being a newbie) cause I didn't know how to join in without ruffling feathers. One conversation after another and not wanting to interrupt... so, that's my reason for being a lurker...lol. I'm learning though. Hope to participate more in the future. π
@EmbStitcher33
