Some feedback we received in the month of August!

"Everyone was really kind, friendly and supportive. The group chat made me feel as if I was with very close friends, who will always be there for me."

Further comments: "Fristo and Juju… you’re both amazing. Don’t change a thing (:"

Feedback by @Afffectionatebeechwood3334 for Would you Rather Positivity hosted by @Gentlefox

"It was light hearted and fun bit also thought provoking"

Further comments: "More of these please"

Feedback by @SirenOfSerenity for Would you Rather Positivity hosted by @Gentlefox

"All the support and reflection that took place in a healthy, positive manner"

Further comments: "gentleFox20, please never stop gracing us with you gentle kindness and respect you show everyone!"

Feedback by @GoldNest2727 for Gratitude Circle hosted by @Fristo

"It was such a nice change of pace. An opportunity to share our gratitude. Gratitude about one another, about 7 cups, about all the good things and people in our offline lives. I loved it. It was a joy to hear from every person who shared. Very uplifting!"

Further comments: "Fristo does a great job of making folks feel valued and welcomed. He is tremendously encouraging and supportive.

I'd love to see more sessions like this one. Sharing gratitude helps the sharer and the people who are listening. I feel so incredibly warm and uplifted. What a great way to solidify the community."

Feedback by @Shymap84001 for Gratitude Circle hosted by @Fristo

"I enjoyed being able to celebrate the good things that happen every day"

Further Comments: "Fristo and the members were very positive and welcoming. Thank you for reminding me to appreciate the good things.

More events like this please"

Feedback by anonymous for Gratitude Circle hosted by @Fristo

"For me, I think the biggest thing was that the room, the session, the timing existed! I did not know that P&G have a group chat room available - perhaps aside from "Free Hugs" room (I do not know who is in charge of that). I was searching for a guided discussion and I'm thankful @Fristo explained what they were doing/looking for in this room at this time."

Further Comments: "@Fristo, congratulations on your award! I *think* it was the PB award 2022. I kind of missed 7cups' birthday stuff this year (=sad Platy); but I read that you were recognized with an important award. Congratulations again, dear. :) "

A big thanks to all who hosted these events, to those who participated, and especially to those who left us this motivating feedback. We will share more feedback we receive, but more importantly, we will continue to host these appreciation events!

26 hosts! Is it not truly wonderful!

Now, time for some important discussion. Consider it a team meeting of the appreciation hosts! Based on the feedback we received through the host log form, here are a few questions/challenges I invite everyone to share their thoughts on!

1. Do you have any tips or tricks to attract more participants and more participation to your event when it is very slow? (One trick I use is, I open the room 15-20 minutes before the session, and that helps getting in a few participants!)

2. What helps you stay calm during your hosting where there are lot of participants?

3. What message can you send in the room as a host to care for the participants who might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious because of a lot of participation?

4. How do you handle the chatroom event when the talk in the chatroom goes off-topic or a conflict between some participants starts to rise?

Finally, here is some of the positive feedback we received in the host log!

"The Emoji Edition was a huge success! A lot of participants verbally expressed how fun the session was"

"Slow to start with but picked up nicely"

"These check-ins must continue!"

"Only a few participants but they engaged well with the discussion"

"Only a few participants but good discussion with those who were in the room :)"

"it was very lively with lot of participants"

"Was slow, once it picked up it was great!"

"It was niceeeeeee!"

"Cookiessssss for those who see this, haha."

"very good, and warm light was so helpful to me. great doorkeeper too!"

"So much fun!"

"It wasn't too active in the first 10 minutes, but towards the last 30, it became really active and members were joining and interaction, there was alot of engagement present as well. <3 One member actually said, "It’s done juju? But I want more" in the middle of the session. <3"

"Love this script!"

"We need more Positivity Corner activity, its working! ✨️ I pledge to do my part in hosting more often here"

"This was a Pop up Compassion Corner session in the Positivity Corner Room, the participants expressed wanting more of these topics, loving them and needing them 😀"

Keep up this amazing difference you make through your hosting the appreciation events!

ooooh, thanks Fristo!

1. Do you have any tips or tricks to attract more participants and more participation to your event when it is very slow?

I like to pop into other rooms and invite the people in there! Assuming there's not already a session going :p

2. What helps you stay calm during your hosting where there are a lot of participants?

Leaning on peers who are supporting others and responding well! If I miss a message here or there, truly active participants will more than make up for it hehe

3. What message can you send in the room as a host to care for the participants who might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious because of a lot of participation?

It is a bit busy today! I find myself feeling overwhelmed sometimes too. I'm wondering whether popping out for a second to appreciate yourself might help you take a breather? *insert appreciation form*

4. How do you handle the chatroom event when the talk in the chatroom goes off-topic or a conflict between some participants starts to arise?

a) By allowing it for a minute, going along with it, laughing, talking, and supporting. Then gently offer an icebreaker that relates to the topic before bringing it back to our next question :)

b) I've never had this issue in an appreciation event actually! :o Validation is good in these situations, making both parties feel heard before going back to the topic, and calling in backup when needed <3

@Fristo

True, we have had so many events hosted, by Check-in hosts and Smile Spreaders - So happy to see the feedback for our team 💛

And these are good questions, maybe I can share my perspective too!

1. Do you have any tips or tricks to attract more participants and more participation to your event when it is very slow?

Setting up your event in the community calendar, putting up a notification when you start your event, and having a chill, 10 mins ice-breaker session can help in getting more participants in your event. Then usually, by 20-25 mins, there will be more and more people coming in! Depends on different days though - Sometimes there are just not many people at that time, but if you are able to have a discussion with even one person, that's awesome, you have a cool ability to move further with discussions regardless of how many people are there 😊

2. What helps you stay calm during your hosting where there are lot of participants?

I think a lot of experience in hosting different sessions gives you the ability to stay calm even when there's too many participants. It also calms me down when everyone is nice and supportive of each other, and me 💛

3. What message can you send in the room as a host to care for the participants who might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious because of a lot of participation?

Hmm, I always let people (even people feeling anxious/overwhelmed through my observation or them telling us) know that they are free to participate if they like to, and I appreciate them for being here and checking the event out. Also, for new participants, they can just observe and see how group discussions are, and maybe they might feel more comfortable gradually after observing many events. I could also take a note of their username, and check in with them after the session, I'd like to do that 🌻

4. How do you handle the chatroom event when the talk in the chatroom goes off-topic or a conflict between some participants starts to rise?

I tend to continue with the discussion as usual, while observing whether the conflict or other topic discussion reduces. If another discussion goes on for more than 1-2 mins, I gently remind them of the purpose of the current event - and suggest them to talk in PMs or other casual group chats which are not having guided discussions. If its a conflict, I would try to support all parties involved, being kind and trying to encourage kindness. If there is rule violation, reporting them may be required, or if the conflict still escalates, we can always reach out to the Community Mod on duty - but this doesn't happen much 🌸
