Could Someone Help?

Dauphinbleu November 4th, 2022

I've been experiencing headaches and some kind of tension in my head for the past month. At first, I thought it was because I got a cold, my nose clogged and I was sleep deprived. But the nose is no longer clogged, the cold is about to heal and I'm still unable to shoo away the headache.

At first, I only bought some medicine at the store. But since it didn't get better and instead I began to experience stomach problems, I went to the doctor. The doctor prescribed some recipes and also told me that I had an acid reflux problem which was causing increasing and irregular heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath, and another kind of headache. After taking the medicine for a few days, my condition got better, but the headache and tension remain.

Around a week ago, I was experiencing a strong emotion that made me struggle to remain calm and I was tearing up. Strangely, the headache, the tension I was feeling was... gone. And after a day or two, I could begin to manage my emotion and I finally got some decent sleep that I'd been finding hard to get the past couple of months.

Unfortunately, two days ago, at night I began to experience some symptoms again. My head was kinda dizzy and heavy. So I went to sleep. But I couldn't. Because my heart was pounding. My heartbeat continued to increase and I felt chest pain and fatigue. I did a breathing exercise but it didn't work. Then my stomach felt uncomfortable and kinda aching and I realized it was acid reflux. So I ate some crackers and began to feel a little better after that and managed to get some sleep despite the symptoms.

The thing is, since yesterday, I began to feel the tension in my head again. The acid reflux also caused a headache but it's a different kind. And I'm pretty sure it's not that since I'm not experiencing other symptoms.

Since yesterday I've been feeling a headache, the tension on the upper and front sides of my head, and very sleepy though I manage to get more than 6 hours of sleep last night. The thing is, the headache and tension would usually make me have difficulties getting decent sleep. Even if I went to bed early, I would wake up after midnight and be unable to sleep until dawn. I also have difficulties falling asleep during the daylight. So I'd be sleep deprived and it would cause another headache and health issue. And my heartbeat had been quite high the past week. I thought it was because I consumed cold medicine. But it's been three days since I last took it and nothing seems to change.

I've been trying to do relaxation, breathing exercises, some light exercises, and get some decent sleep. But for the last one, I usually don't have much luck. And without it, it might be hard for my condition to get better. I have some physical health that needs some medical attention. But this headache and tension, I don't think this is something that happens because something is wrong with my body. But my body would be affected by it if I don't take care of it. I could barely do any activity because I continuously feeling pain and tension in my head. I took paracetamol, didn't help with the pain and tension. But when I try to lay down to get some sleep, I couldn't fall asleep.

I've been under some stress the past year. But things got very difficult the past two months. Probably, it finally takes its toll on my body. Relaxation, breathing exercises, and physical exercise don't help much. I try to continue doing it. But it barely has an impact. Positivity could work for some time. But then I found a hard time maintaining it. I've also been trying to eat healthier, though I'm not sure if it would help. Reading could help somehow. But it's kinda hard to do it now. Because I feel dizzy if I continue to look at the monitor for some time. Unfortunately, I can't talk to a therapist cause I can't afford it right now.

I wonder if anyone has ever been in a similar situation and if someone could help give me some tips on how to deal with this situation well. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I saw where it said that you can't afford a therapist, but what about going to your regular doctor about this? That's where I'd start if I were you.

Get better soon ❤️

These only help me sometimes:

icy hot on my temples (if nothing else it's a good distraction)

extra caffeine (not pills or anything, just Mt Dew or whatever has the most caffeine)

extra sleep

drink a bunch of water in one go (I hate water, so I have to force myself to chug it).

If that doesn't work, then I ride it out, and to be honest, that's par of the course for migraines and other types of headaches. I use a Mindfulness trick to make it more bearable. I give into the pain. I stop fighting it. I accept that my head is going to throb. I name the sensation without ascribing a feeling to them. Burning, throbbing, shooting, stabbing...but not gosh, this headache is never going away it sucks. For some reason, things feel more manageable once I stop trying to make the pain go away. Distraction techniques also help. I just throw myself into work.

I'm sorry that you're hurting so badly. I hope you get some relief soon! ❤️
