If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going. yes

I will start with this riddle:

@DarkWolf

I think the answer is ‘wholesome, but it could technically also be a mixed fraction!

A box without hinges, lock or key, yet golden treasure lies within. What is it?

TrulyMadlyDeeply April 26th, 2018

@DarkWolf

Is it an egg? Technically, an egg is not a box, but I can't really think of anything else.

DarkWolf OP April 26th, 2018

@DarkBlueWater

That's the right answer! I guess box shouldnt be taken too literal in this riddle, otherwise it would indeed not make too much sense.

Here's a riddle (it's a bit of a long one, so bear with me):

Romeo and Juliet are found dead on the floor in a bedroom. When they were discovered, there were pieces of glass and some water on the floor. The only furniture in the room is a shelf and a bed. The house in is a remote location, away from everything except for the nearby railway track. What caused the death of Romeo and Juliet?

DarkWolf OP April 26th, 2018

@DarkBlueWater

I think a glass object with water in it might have been present on the shelf, like a fish bowl. The railway track might have generated severe vibrations, causing the glass object to fall of the shelf, hitting Romeo and Juliet.

@DarkWolf

You're actually pretty close. but just think of what you said a little differently for the correct answer.

I noticed, your name everywhere in this topic changed too yes

As for the riddle, is the only addition that's necessary that Romeo and Julliet were actually the name of the two fish in the bowl? angel

TrulyMadlyDeeply April 26th, 2018

@DarkWolf

Yes! Romeo and Juliet were actually fish (the riddle never said they were human) and the vibrations from the railway caused the fish bowl to tip over, hence the water and glass. Good job, not many people get this riddle right yes

@TrulyMadlyDeeply

The truth is I heard this riddle a long time ago, I just didn't remember Romeo and Juliet were actually the fish. But after my initial answer wasn't right I did remember. Good riddle smiley

This is a really funny coincidence, but I actually went bowling a few days ago and heard this riddle there - a strike was thrown in 10-pin bowling!

Here's another long, but tricky riddle:

There is a small town on the East Side that has 2 barbershops each with a single barber, and on opposite sides of town. The barbershop in the good part of town is immaculate. The floors and windows are washed and the air is fresh. The barber is very friendly, always smiling, he has shined shoes, a nice head of hair, and a clean dress shirt. The barbershop in the bad part of town is a mess. The entire barbershop is covered with a layer of dirt, and the air smells of trash. The barber always has a frown on his face. His skin is oily, his hair is ragged, and there are always stains visible on his shirt.

A man comes into town and hears of both barbershops and the man decides to go to the dirty barbershop in the bad part of town. Why does he do this?

DarkWolf OP April 30th, 2018

@TrulyMadlyDeeply

Maybe because he thinks that the only option the two barbers have to get a haircut is to go the other one. Meaning the barber with the 'bad' haircut actually did a pretty good job when giving the other barber a haircut. While the one with a good haircut actually did a crappy job and gave the other barber a bad haircut. Is that close?

TrulyMadlyDeeply May 1st, 2018

@DarkWolf

Pretty much correct, good job! Yes, the "dirty" barber is so messy because he has so many customers, and he got his hair cut by the "clean" barber, whose shop is so clean because he has no customers.

What word, as a verb, means to remove that word?

3 replies
DarkWolf OP May 2nd, 2018

@DarkWolf

I came up with this riddle, but I found that it is slightly hard to understand the way it's phrased, so I'll give a hint:

There is a word that is both a verb and a noun, both are spelled exactly the same. Surprisingly, the verbs meaning is to 'clean/remove' the noun of the same word.

Can you figure it out? smiley

TrulyMadlyDeeply May 2nd, 2018

@DarkWolf

This is probably wrong, but the only thing I can think of is the word "clean" or "remove" itself? Clean and remove can both be used as verbs and nouns, so maybe that's the answer?

DarkWolf OP May 2nd, 2018

@TrulyMadlyDeeply

Thanks for answering, but that's not the actual answer. I think this riddle is a little bit too difficult to be honest.

I heard of an invading, vanquishing army
sweeping across the land, liquid-quick;
conquering everything, quelling resistance.
With it came darkness, dimming the light.
Humans hid in their houses, while outside
spears pierced, shattering stone walls.
Uncountable soldiers smashed into the ground,
but each elicited life as he died;
when the army had vanished, advancing northward,
the land was green and growing, refreshed.

Who/what is this army?

Quests and treasures of every kind.

Within my closed walls for
