Riddles!
This topic is about short riddles, because not everyone likes to do the larger logical puzzles. If you do like those, then click here.
If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going.
I will start with this riddle:
What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?
I have a riddle?
How can you stand behind your uncle while he is standing behind you?
@stuckintime92
Are they standing back to back?
@IndecisiveClementine186 Yes they are
@stuckintime92
Are they standing back to back?
Here's a new one:
Always wax, yet always wane: I melt, succumbed to the flame.
Lighting darkness, with fate unblest, I soon devolve to shapeless mess.
What am I?
@DarkWolf
Are you a candle?
When I
@DarkWolf
The only thing I can think of that's an animal and fits that description is a bat. They have "glowing" eyes in a sense, so maybe that helps you see in the dark and guide you home?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply & @Jessica212
The answer is indeed bat. For the second line that might be a lot more obvious than the first one. In this riddle both lines give completely different clues about a different kind of bat.
The first clue isn't about the 'animal' bat, neither is it about literally getting home. But you have to be into sports a little bit to be able to get it. If I ask you what a 'home run' stands for exactly, you'd probably be able to figure it out quite quickly
@DarkWolf
I think I get it, like a cricket bat? If you bat then you can get a home run... this was quite a clever riddle.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
The most 'obvious' option that most people would know is probably baseball. Where they use a baseball bat to try and get a 'home run'. It's possible that there are different sports where they have similar rules and use a bat too. But I must admit I'm not too familiar with cricket..
A lot of somewhat longer riddles actually work quite similar to the last one, where 2 different things with an identical name but different meaning are described. Especially when the riddles gets shorter, that might make it quite a bit more difficult. I'm happy it provoked a lot of though though!
Now for a little brain teaser again:
A farmer has 3 stacks of hay on 1 field, and 4 on another field. He combines them all onto 1 field, how many stacks does he have on this new field?
I'm a rare case where today comes before yesterday does. What am I?
Three men are out fishing one day. Suddenly, their boat capsizes - however, not a single man gets wet. How is that possible?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Were they all married?
@IndecisiveClementine186
Yes, good job
You may enter, but you may not come in. I have space, but no room. I have many keys, but open no lock. What am I?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply Keyboard
@wildOnee
Keyboard is correct!
I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have nobody, but come alive with wind. What am I?
@IndecisiveClementine186
An echo is the only thing I can think of.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Yeah, that right!
A doctor and a bus driver are both in love with an attractive young woman. One day, the bus driver had to go on a long trip that would last a week. Before he left, he gave the young woman 7 apples. Why?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply To keep the doctor away? XD
@wildOnee
Correct - an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
I have hands, but cannot wear gloves. A face, but cannot look. What am I?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
A clock?
@IndecisiveClementine186
Yep
@TrulyMadlyDeeply a clock!
