Riddles!
This topic is about short riddles, because not everyone likes to do the larger logical puzzles. If you do like those, then click here.
If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going.
I will start with this riddle:
What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?
What is it that after you take away the whole, some still remains?
A box without hinges, lock or key, yet golden treasure lies within. What is it?
Here's a riddle (it's a bit of a long one, so bear with me):
Romeo and Juliet are found dead on the floor in a bedroom. When they were discovered, there were pieces of glass and some water on the floor. The only furniture in the room is a shelf and a bed. The house in is a remote location, away from everything except for the nearby railway track. What caused the death of Romeo and Juliet?
@DarkBlueWater
I think a glass object with water in it might have been present on the shelf, like a fish bowl. The railway track might have generated severe vibrations, causing the glass object to fall of the shelf, hitting Romeo and Juliet.
@DarkWolf
You're actually pretty close. but just think of what you said a little differently for the correct answer.
@DarkWolf
(By the way, I'm DarkBlueWater - I just changed my username :) )
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
I noticed, your name everywhere in this topic changed too
As for the riddle, is the only addition that's necessary that Romeo and Julliet were actually the name of the two fish in the bowl?
@DarkWolf
Yes! Romeo and Juliet were actually fish (the riddle never said they were human) and the vibrations from the railway caused the fish bowl to tip over, hence the water and glass. Good job, not many people get this riddle right
Dead on the field lie ten soldiers in white, felled by three eyes, black as night. What happened?
Here's another long, but tricky riddle:
There is a small town on the East Side that has 2 barbershops each with a single barber, and on opposite sides of town. The barbershop in the good part of town is immaculate. The floors and windows are washed and the air is fresh. The barber is very friendly, always smiling, he has shined shoes, a nice head of hair, and a clean dress shirt. The barbershop in the bad part of town is a mess. The entire barbershop is covered with a layer of dirt, and the air smells of trash. The barber always has a frown on his face. His skin is oily, his hair is ragged, and there are always stains visible on his shirt.
A man comes into town and hears of both barbershops and the man decides to go to the dirty barbershop in the bad part of town. Why does he do this?
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Maybe because he thinks that the only option the two barbers have to get a haircut is to go the other one. Meaning the barber with the 'bad' haircut actually did a pretty good job when giving the other barber a haircut. While the one with a good haircut actually did a crappy job and gave the other barber a bad haircut. Is that close?
@DarkWolf
Pretty much correct, good job! Yes, the "dirty" barber is so messy because he has so many customers, and he got his hair cut by the "clean" barber, whose shop is so clean because he has no customers.
What word, as a verb, means to remove that word?
@DarkWolf
I came up with this riddle, but I found that it is slightly hard to understand the way it's phrased, so I'll give a hint:
There is a word that is both a verb and a noun, both are spelled exactly the same. Surprisingly, the verbs meaning is to 'clean/remove' the noun of the same word.
Can you figure it out?
@DarkWolf
This is probably wrong, but the only thing I can think of is the word "clean" or "remove" itself? Clean and remove can both be used as verbs and nouns, so maybe that's the answer?
@DarkWolf
Is it dust?!
@Aleena5070
Yes, that's it! 'To dust' can mean to clean/remove 'dust'..
@DarkWolf
Ahhh okay... I feel dumb now
@TrulyMadlyDeeply
Dont be, i asked it to multiple people and nobody got the right answer. Riddle needs slightly more direction i suppose.
@TrulyMadlyDeeply I still do not get it to honest, so I would not say you are dumb at all.
The blue man lives in the blue house, the green man lives in the green house and the pink man lives in the pink house. Who lives in the White House?
I heard of an invading, vanquishing army
sweeping across the land, liquid-quick;
conquering everything, quelling resistance.
With it came darkness, dimming the light.
Humans hid in their houses, while outside
spears pierced, shattering stone walls.
Uncountable soldiers smashed into the ground,
but each elicited life as he died;
when the army had vanished, advancing northward,
the land was green and growing, refreshed.
Who/what is this army?
@DarkWolf rain?
@PhoenixAsh
Yes, right again!
@DarkWolf Yay! My first thought was a lawn mower haha, I got there eventually
Inside me the adventurous find
Quests and treasures of every kind.
Trolls, goblins, orcs, and more, await
Within my closed walls for
All those that wish to visit me.
Your hands are the key
To secrets untold,
And your mind will unlock the door.
What am I?
@DarkWolf
a book?
@terribleacaibowl
Yes!
