Let's start with a logic puzzle! Which square fits in the last grid?
If presented with the words MAR, AM and FAR and asked to find the shortest word that contained all the letters from which these words could be produced, you should come up with the word FARM.
Here is a further list of words: ANGRY, LYNCH, MAGIC
What is the shortest English word from which all these words can be produced?
@DarkWolf I found it, but I used a program that I wrote, because... anagrams are not my strength. I'll just wait to see what others come up with. It works without adding any letters, and the dictionary only knows a single word that would fit.
@cloudySummer
It is complicated when it isn't your native tongue.
With the English language usually there are patterns in Suffix, and Prefix
Suffix are more common which is where I would start
Such as LY, ED, S, or ING:
sING, pING, runnING, postED, usualLY or loveLY
and then there are times in the english language where it is combined
seemINGLY
English is one of the most complicated and contradictions out the ying yang
@Barltik2065 Admittedly, I was also a bit lazy this time... And just wanted to know what the answer is, lol.
Thanks! (and it seems there are actually two words that can work! You found the other one.)
@cloudySummer
I hear ya!!
There are days I want to veg on a stupid movie.
@DarkWolf
MARCHINGLY
We all keep on trying giving our brain a work out. Isn't that the main thingπΊ
@lazyKatz
That is what I tell myself.
It is expected for me to have Alzheimer's.
@Barltik2065
I admire the way your coping having that hanging over you..... You certainly put me to shame..... You have a very active brain πΊ
@lazyKatz
I am sorry I put you to shame. That is never my intent. If anything I admire you also.
And also @CloudySummer.
You all inspire me. You all are blessings and keep me on my toes. All the while enjoying @DarkWolf βs puzzles
What number should replace the question mark?
22, 21, 30, ?, 38, 37, 46
@DarkWolf 29 (-1, +9)
@cloudySummer
Yup, that's it β
@DarkWolf
Husband guesses it could be 29
@DarkWolf Found the solution by trial and error and moving them around in a graphics program, but not by shifting the parts in my mind only (spoiler: https://imgur.com/a/4rUOmiF)
Maybe someone here can do it 'the right way'?
@DarkWolf
Spatial recognition is something I didn't develop because I don't see straight naturally. Later in life technology developed enough to where I acquired corrective lenses.
That being said, I am guessing: A is the odd one
@Barltik2065 Same :) I'm cross-eyed, too. I hadn't thought about it possibly being an explanation for being slow with this kind of task, but it might be!
@cloudySummer
One eye I am 20 / 800 (on a good day), basically I am blind in one eye.
I think as humans, we compensate naturally. We have a loss (vision) and somewhere some how other areas compensate automatically
@Barltik2065 Yes, that's how it works, indeed!
