If you could write a note to your younger self, what would you say in only three words?

Upbeat June 14th, 2015

I had two thoughts. 1) Words can hurt. 2) Try your best.

What would your note say? heart

High school is not important. Start looking into vocational and technical college. Stop playing video games and learn to code.

You don't have to move out so fast. I know you don't like your parents (you still don't) and you may see this as an ethical dilemma but... use the resources you have while you have them. You didn't ask to be their kid and have to sit around while they have shouting matches and occasionally take out their aggressions on you.

You don't owe them anything.

If you get to a point where you're stable enough and you WANT to do something nice for them, that's one thing.

But you are not obligated to do anything for your parents.

"So they can take care of me in my old age" is not an appropriate reason for bringing someone into the world.

Take care of yourself first. Once you get that squared away, then you'll be capable of taking care of others. And if you have a kid -

They owe you nothing.

You owe them everything.

If you can't deal with that, don't have a kid.
