Ever feel alone?
Hey everyone,
I'm new here and giving this online support group a go. I live with my wife and 2 children, my 10 yo son who has autism and my 8 yo daughter. My wife has been experiencing intense health issues, including going from being able to hike 3 years ago to now being in a wheel chair. We are still trying to get a diagnosis for all her health stuff, having seen pain specialists, rheumatologist, a geneticist and others.
I work full time to provide financially, handle the parenting duties, care for my wife, and take care of the household chores. I'm grateful for my wife and children, they're amazing. It's just at times the heaviness and stress gets to me and there's times I feel lonely - anyone else have that? What do you do?
@achris2831 hey you're doing a great job looking after your family. Youre brave and resilient and its understandable to get stressed. Don't forget to take out some self care time. You deserve love as you give to others. Hope things get better for you.
@achris2831 Hey Chris, I hope you understand how strong you truly are, I have yet to see the other end of an attempt at dating, managing to go all the way and have a loving family that show it in their own ways. The fact of having the courage and bravery to come to a group and ask for help is beyond what I could ever do, (placing myself in your scenario.) Each time I have ever felt I needed help I have pushed people away.
I bow down at your feet. Thank you so very much for sharing your struggles to the world.
@achris2831 thanks for sharing. You're doing an amazing job with the hand you've been delt. And yes, I highly relate. I'm a full time single father, his mother has several mental illness. I'm in a very rocky relationship and in a job I don't like. I feel very alone, too. I feel like the more responsibility someone has the more lonely they feel. As our responsibilities become our identity.
I know time is probably scarce, but try and find an activity or hobbie that involves other and helps to get your identity back.
@chris2831 your doing amazing even with everything going on, you still manage to hold down the fort. Keep on doing what your doing and trust that people are always here to listen.
