March 18, 2022 Event: The day of Holi
Hey Family,
Our team event for March invites you all to learn about the day of Holi and how you can celebrate with your friends and family. Although the Hindu festival of colors finds its origins in South Asia, it has now gained popularity across the world, with Holi events organized across the U.S., the U.K. and elsewhere.
So here are some things you may not know:
What is Holi?
Holi has been celebrated in the Indian subcontinent for centuries, with poems documenting celebrations dating back to the 4th century CE. It marks the beginning of spring after a long winter, symbolic of the triumph of good over evil. It is celebrated in March, corresponding to the Hindu calendar month of Phalguna.
How is Holi celebrated?
On the eve of the festival, large pyres are lit in many parts of India to signify the burning of evil spirits. People often throw wood, dried leaves and twigs into bonfires.
On the day of Holi, entire streets and towns turn red, green and yellow as people throw colored powder into the air and splash them on others. Each color carries a meaning. Red, for example, symbolizes love and fertility while green stands for new beginnings. People also splash water on each other in celebration. Water guns are used to squirt water, while balloons filled with colored water are also flung from rooftops. Later in the day, families gather together for festive meals. It is also common to distribute sweets among neighbors and friends.
Here are some questions, we would love to hear from y'all:
1. How can you share the spirit of the Holi festival from where you live?
2. If you had the chance to invent a festival similar to Holi, what would it be like?
3. Do you have any plans for Holi?

1. How can you share the spirit of the Holi festival from where you live?
We celebrate it with sweets, beer, and food with friends/family along with colors and water 😁
2. If you had the chance to invent a festival similar to Holi, what would it be like?
I would invent an Omelette day. Where we will crush eggs on someone and tell them what we do not like about the. It will make them burn, hence omelette day :p
But seriously, the day is not to cause burns, it is so that we can express what we keep inside and let the relation weaken in the process. By bringing it out we try to make the relation stronger.
3. Do you have any plans for Holi?
I didnt have any plans. But friends called and we went for a drive, played little with gulaal, had beers and back home :)
