Recovery Jukebox!

As part of our celebrations this week, let's put together a jukebox of recovery inspiring songs! You can share a song you like to listen to, or record yourself on vocaroo and share your rendition with us!

@Anomalia I love this idea! Thank you so much for posting this thread! I have quite a few songs that are on my Recovery Playlist! I don't sing publically - but I have attached youtube links to the headings so that anybody who wishes to listen to the songs can do! Maybe i'll have to try and record a recovery song on my guitar instead aha!
This song is one that I only found recently but I adore - the words in this song are so powerful and I know that at times when I'm having a dark day, i'll listen to it and just be reminded of the lyrics!
"We will recover. The worst is over, now. All those fires weve been walking through, and still we survive, somehow. We will recover. The worst is behind and it hurts, but in time, I know that we will recover.
This song has been a song that I have loved for years, it is one that I will always turn back to when I need some comfort or just need to appreciate a great song! I think this song reminds everybody, that the fact that those around us care enough to want to fix us - means a lot! Even if we know deep down they won't be able to totally fix us, its the fact they offer to help us that means the most!
Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.
My sister actually showed me this song, I think she had gotten it off of a TV Show - but as soon as I heard it I knew that it was so much more than just a song from a show! I think this song has several powerful phrases - the message itself, letting people know that no matter how bad things get it is always possible to stand back up stronger. Sometimes we may feel like everything is going wrong, and that there is noway out - but that is when we need to remember to breathe!
And breathe, just breathe. Oh, breathe, just breathe.
There are actually a couple of songs by Demi Lovato that I feel connected with - another one being Believe in Me, which is one I defiantly appreciate a lot. However, I believe Warrior is one of the Recovery songs, that prove no matter how difficult things we get - we get stronger each day and that we can fight what we are going through!
Now Im a warrior, now Ive got thicker skin. Im a warrior — Im stronger than Ive ever been and my armor is made of steel, you cant get in. Im a warrior and you can never hurt me again.
Although this song isn't a chart song, and it isn't specific to Eating Disorders, it does tie into Recovery. I think the reason why this will continue to stay on my top recovery songs, is because I've had the luck to hear the song played live multiple times. Where, it almost seems like an open letter - I have also met Emma Blackery whose words whilst speaking to me, have helped on the journey. So perhaps when I think of this, its almost like I am reminded that things will get better - and that I am not alone in this - which is exactly what the song is about.
"Because you are so beautiful, I promise you this, I promise you this; And you are more than capable, Just believe in yourself when nobody else is listening"
@emsworld - I would love to hear you play guitar! Maybe some day we can collaborate and you can record guitar and I can record singing over it :D

@emsworld
it would be cool to hear you play it!!!

@emsworld
yayyy Emma Blackery! Ive had that specific song on my phone for a while now haha I also like her other one- Perfect :p

@Anomalia
Woohoo, I love this! These are general recovery/motivational songs: (I might add more later after work!)
- Get Up by Superchick and Five Minutes At A Time
Both songs to me show is to keep fighting and keep moving forward. Just take it slow and steady, and even when we fall or relapse, to always try again.
- Scars To Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
I love that this song just promotes full acceptance of yourself, scars and all, whether they be physical or mental.
Praying by Kesha
This song just gives hope and a positive perspective towards recovering from any mental illness, and its powerful lyrics and how its sung with so much strength gives a lot of hope for us all. ❤️
@rebecca947 - Praying is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!! I was going to record it, but it is TOO high for my range :) And I don't know Get Up, but I'm gonna have to check it out!

@rebecca947
i like praying by kesha too!!!

Younger Now by Miley Cyrus
Rise Up by Andra Day

@summertimeSamness
yessssssh, both amazing songs! I love Rose Up a lot (but depending on the mood I get annoyed at how many times the chorus is sung xD) and Younger Now is so chilled ❤️

@Anomalia Music really is a magic beyond all that we do here. (<3 for everyone recognising the quote!) I'm not much of a singer - at least, it's better for everyone who'd hear me - but doing youtube karaoke in front of my computer is something I love and that really helps sometimes. Not sure whether they count as recovery songs - but they are ones that can often make me smile once things are really bad. I'll add yours to my playlist!
I'd like to add the following songs (hoping that HTML formatting works...):
"This is my fight song, take back my life song, prove Im alright song. My powers turned on, starting right now Ill be strong, Ill play my fight song, and I dont really care if nobody else believes ‘cause Ive still got a lot of fight left in me."
"And I won't let you get me down, I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground. Oh, never give up, no, never give up no, no."
"'Cause all of me loves all of you, love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections."
Breakaway - Avril Lavigne (yes, I know, the Kelly Clarkson version exists too)
"I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly, I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change, and breakaway out of the darkness and into the sun but I won't forget all the ones that I love. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change, and breakaway."
"No there's nothing wrong with falling down" - and the two of them are really precious.
I just had to go back - thinking about songs just made me remember one I loved in my teenage days:
"People are all the same, and we only get judged by what we do. Personality reflects me, and if I'm ugly then so are you."
All other songs I can think of are not in English - and it's mainly because of the lyrics, so I'll stop here with songs. Right now, the video that can't fail to make me laugh is a Scottish gran reading "The Wonky Donkey" as her laugh is infectious.
[Edited by @emsworld to fix hyperlinks of the songs]
@cahovi - I think any song that makes you happy absolutely counts as a recovery song! Thanks for sharing these :)

@cahovi These are a great list of songs Cassandra! Thank you so much for sharing!

@Anomalia
Late to the party, story of my life lol. There is one song that came to mind. It's not in my usual genre, but I like it anyway (shhhh don't tell anyone).
After some stuff today these words have a lot of meaning. Not brave enough to live it yet, but it's inspiring nonetheless. The first part is what others say, but the second is fighting back.
Kesha - This Is Me
I'm not a stranger to the dark
"Hide away," they say
"Cause we don't want your broken parts"
I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars
"Run away," they say
"No one will love you as you are"
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
@practicalIdeal2007 - I love that song and I've been listening to the Greatest Showman soundtrack a lot lately, but especially that one! <3

@practicalIdeal2007 I love this song! Thank you so much for sharing!
