Food Textures and Avoidances

CrazyMinxi March 14th, 2023

Hello, being diagnosed with OSFED is a relief and also a burden. For me because I will just avoid eating because I don’t know/feel my hunger cues. On top of that I will avoid sugar and other needed values in a normal day. Along with that, certain foods like mayonnaise is a no because I was forced to eat it or I was lied if the food contained it or not. Lastly, when it comes to calories I fixate on if eat enough and that can lead to bingeing. I just wanted to post here and see if anyone has experienced similar things.

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. It's understandable that being diagnosed with OSFED can feel both relieving and burdensome at the same time. It sounds like you are struggling with disordered eating habits and difficulty in recognizing your hunger cues. You mentioned that you avoid certain foods due to past negative experiences and fixate on calorie intake, which can lead to bingeing. It's important to remember that you are not alone and there are resources available to help you overcome these challenges.

One potential strategy to consider is seeking the help of a registered dietitian or nutritionist who can work with you to create a balanced meal plan that meets your nutritional needs. Additionally, a therapist or counsellor can help you work through the emotional aspects of your relationship with food and address any underlying issues that may be contributing to your disordered eating habits.

It's important to take care of yourself and seek support in addressing these challenges. Remember, recovery is possible and there are people who are willing and able to help ❤️
