Using MBTI in recovery?

I'm nowhere near a clinical breakthrough, but I was wondering whether anyone else has used MBTI types in the recovery process (e.g. tailoring recovery and maintenance to your personality type). My boyfriend who's been there for me throughout the process got me interested in the MBTI and psychology as a whole. In addition to finding my strengths and weaknesses to use them to my advantage in recovery (in my case, being more willing to experiment and being less adept with strict structure), I find "typing" (for lack of a better term) your ED voice makes it much easier to counter it and understand why it does the stuff it does. Has anyone else tried using MBTI for this purpose or heard about someone who has? Is this even a smart idea?

Oh, that post is very interesting, I've had about the same idea a few days ago, which is including the personality type to tailor therapy, I just didn't think it in a more developped way, but I'm definitely in favor of this ! :)

If you find a style or therapy that gets you motivated then it is a great idea to try it!

I've never heard of this being used before but I really like the idea! I think personality types can relate to how you experience an eating disorder, so this way of tailoring recovery could be really useful!

Sounds like a great idea to me though I've never heard of it being used before! Besides, we all differ in our struggles and different methods work for different people. If it helps you beter deal with eating disorder, then way to go :)

@ErwineRommel

i am quite interested in psychology, MBTI and Enneagram. I prefer to incorporate everything I learn to create an inclusive understanding of myself as much as possible. It helps with multiple perspectives. I think it all depends on how one uses them.
