Today marks the kick off to Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2015. How are you participating? What do you think of this years slogan of I had no idea?

I love the theme - mine was in 'denial' - I had no idea what I was doing for 25 years! It was just what I did when I was stressed out. I know I'm not the only one :)

This is my favorite week of the year.

I have spent my week being here as a listener and posting things on social media to let people know how important ED recovery is. I like this year's slogan. A lot of people are unaware of those who are suffering from an eating disorder. "They look ok." Eating disorders look like you and me.

I posted for the first time on social media about my eatind disordered past. I had no idea I would ever be able to do that. I wanted to stress that I had been eating disorder for years even at points where I was considered healthy and that the perception of healthy by others is dangerous and detracts away from the mental presentation of an eating disorder which slows recovery time.

That's fantastic, and so brave! I'm really proud of you, and hope you're proud of yourself.

I agree that it's so important to stress that even when it looks or seems like someone is healthy, it doesn't mean you know everything going on. I did a presentation at my office a couple years ago about mental health and focused on that idea, specifically talking about my eating disorder that they didn't know about because I looked 'fine'
