Grocery shopping
Hi. This is my first "create a new thread." :)
Is grocery shopping stressful for anyone else? Anxiety producing? Leading to procrastination and running out of things like milk or bread?
Yeah, grocery shopping has been scary for me lately. I sure wish I could have a shopping buddy.
I need to go buy milk - like now. (Sadness). ~ Platy
@cyanPlatypus6370 Welcome to the forums! Glad you have you here :-)
I personally have not had that experience, but I wanted to leave a message so you knew someone read it. Sending you loving kindness
@cyanPlatypus6370 if shopping stresses you out, you could try something like Amazon Pantry, which ships you things you need monthly. I'm not sure if that would totally fix your issue but it might make your trips shorter :)
Hello.. I just want to seek your opinion about online grocery shopping... which is really the more practical, shopping online or the supermarket shopping? Thanks and advance.
@IsaacLoche777 - I think there can be pros and cons of each, so much of it comes down to what works best for you. In the actual supermarket, you have more ability to look at the product (especially with fresh produce) to decide exactly what you want, you may end up interacting with others (can be a pro or a con), and it's often a bit cheaper because you don't have to pay delivery fees. With online shopping, there are a number of options which can be more or less expensive, but in general, the biggest pro (in my opinion) is the convenience to have the world of options open and to have them delivered (especially if you don't have a car)
Yeah, I totally get you. It is so hard for me to be around so much food, that sometimes I have panic attacks just from being in the store. One thing that helps me is making a list ahead of time and only looking for/getting those items. I always shop at the same store, so I know exactly where to go for what is on my list. Also important- at least for me- is writing my list while I am in a good state of mind. I have a friend who goes with me, and I have a certain day and time I need to go. Having that certain time helps me to make it part of my routine, and it makes it so that I feel more motivated.
Good luck with your endeavors, it gets better, it gets easier, and you will eventually feel better about this.
@ThePeacefulArrow ...
Thank you for your encouraging words and suggestions. More recently going to the store isn't as daunting as it used to be. I am notorious for going in (usually on the way home from some appointment) without my list. I do have a list on the fridge but I'm not always so good at keeping it current.
Sometimes, more recently, I go in for ? example: milk and remember oh yes bagels are on my list or I need more of _____. But keeping the list ONLY in my head is not the best way of doing grocery shopping for me.
I feel somewhat envious of you. I'd sure like to have a friend to go to the grocery store with. I've done that twice and ... well, I sort of felt like I was wasting their time :( but the one for sure, she didn't know why I wanted a grocery shopping buddy. She and her sister still do not know of this ED I have.
The idea of making grocery shopping scheduled may be useful. I used to go almost every Monday because "my store" had Milk Monday - when the one gallon milk is on sale. But they stopped doing that - sadness. So now? I guess I just go when I have to - run out of milk or bread (those two are the main reason usually).
