i need advice

I have been trying to find out if I have anorexia. I struggle really badly with eating because I'm terrified of gaining weight so I restrict myself. I have a therapist but I feel extremely insecure talking about it or asking questions because what if me and everyone else were wrong and it's just a bad fear of food?

Any advice?

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience. It takes a lot of courage to open up about something so personal.

I completely understand feeling insecure about discussing this with your therapist, but remember, they're there to help you, not judge you. Sometimes writing down your thoughts and questions beforehand can make it a bit easier when you talk to them.

Your feelings and fears are totally valid, and it's important to take them seriously. Restricting food because of a fear of gaining weight can be a sign of anorexia or another eating disorder, but only a healthcare professional can give a proper diagnosis. Don’t hesitate to keep asking questions and seeking support.

You’re not alone in this. Many people have similar struggles, and there are communities and resources that can offer support. Sending you lots of strength and hope. Take care of yourself.

I'm glad you posted.  I want to concur with @LotusFury that therapists are there to be a non-judgmental person who can help us sort out what our struggles are, as well as provide education and resources if they are needed.  If they are judgmental, then it's okay to seek out a new therapist, if that is allowed where you live (some countries do not allow that with government/state aid).

It's okay to ask questions on your timeline.  Maybe start with one or two questions and then not ask anymore for a few weeks.  Just getting information as you are ready to is okay.
