I am really struggling today with feeling like I need more rest and the pain is so frustrating and draining. My workplace disability insurance company has continually denied my claims for benefits due to time missed from work due to pain. I am at the point where I feel like I need to get an attorney involved. It has put me in financial crisis and now is threatening my job due to attendance policy and my absences not being excused due to the insurance company not viewing my pain as a valid reqson for missing work. I am trying not to give up. I am starting to lean towards trying to get SSDI as I feel verr helpless and hopeless. I have been struggling since 2017 when I mussed 7 months on short term disability and was finally diagnosed with my spinal condition. I am told by my Neurologist that I am not a candidate for surgery. There is only so much that can be done to help my pain.it is very frustrating. I had to take my stepmother to the EE last night and was not able to get enough sleep last night. I need to be ar wirk by 8am and feel like crap. If I miss wirk I can be fired. I have been at my job for 3 yrs 6 months and don't want to start over.

@bgdave I am sorry that you're going through this. You are dealing with enough physically and don't need the added stress of potentially losing your job.

I was in a similar situation. I have an autoimmune disease that causes pain, exhaustion, and problems with my heart. Because I had been with the company a little over 2 years, I was able to get FMLA, which allows for time off without penalty. It's a Federal program in the US that applies to all companies that have more than 20 employees. It helped me until I was able to figure out what I needed to do. I don't know what country you're in, but contacting different agencies to ask them what options you have might give you more insight into what you can do.

Thanks I have used all my FMLA due to the extent of my pain issues and I need to get Cigna to support my short term leave as it is a permanent disability. I need an attorney to go after them to make them give me what I deserve. Cigna sides with who pays them, my employer AAA.
