Just got approved for disability, now what?
@stacy46
Hey there, when you say being approved for disability, would you mind expanding on that? I'm unclear what you mean, do you mean you qualify for a specific benefit?
Either way, for now I wouldn't do anything, other than sit and process the information given to you, allow yourself time to digest what you have learned today, once you have processed this it will determine your next step.
Good luck on your journey, I hope all becomes clear soon.
@professionalPerspective60 I should start recieving benefits soon. Just trying to get all the info I can so I know what I need to focus on. Thanks for the support.
@stacy46
Thank you for coming back to me. Look at this as a positive thing, a security. You now have some clear direction on your next step, something concreit to focus on.
Can I ask, how are you feeling about it all today?
I'm a bit unfamiliar with governmental assistance programs, as I've never had to use them. By "being approved for disability," I'm assuming you're referring to being approved to receive social security benefits. Although it's great to receive what seems as "free money," please don't abuse this opportunity. I fully support the social security program; however, far too often people that receive social security benefits don't ensure their own health and end up abusing it, unfortunately. For example, people living with a subsidized income in the US often end up gaining weight and become less motivated. While you receive your benefits, take this time to realize how important your health is. Buy fresh produce with other healthy foods, and avoid fast food or generally unhealthy foods. Since you mentioned anxiety, I'm assuming you're receiving benefits for a mental disability (anxiety), rather than a physical disability. In your free time, aim to do light exercise everyday, hopefully one hour or so a day. Some fun activities would include cycling, running, walking, etc. It's even more enjoyable with music! You can do this; good luck

I am not going to abuse the system. I have tried so hard to get these benefits. Better life is on the way.
