Please watch the above TEDtalk. I am over fifty and I remember life before the ADA, although I was not disabled at the time, that came much later for me.

1. How have you benefited from the ADA?

2. What do you feel we still need to work on?

3. Is advocacy a part of your life? Why or why not?

@1Marg1 There's no ADA here.

I do know in the US the HAEA put out a statement of rights for HAE patients I would love to have that here too. I feel like it would at least give some leverage when health care professionals don't follow what they should be doing.

I have done advocacy and have made change with at least 2 things in the health care system directly, one of which was just a glitch but with some pretty serious consequences for some and it wasn't getting up high enough because the initial contants weren't realizing their was a system-problem so it took a fair bit of effort with escalation.

I do wish it were easier to advocate in small ways. I don't have the energy to be on a board or something like that. I have had something that I've thought about getting going, but I need to really consider if I have the energy for it plus it would put me in a more public posiition and I need to consider that carefully too.

@AffyAvo

I can see how the ADA question was not a good one because it is limited to people in my country. I am really excited that you were able to make changes, very impressive. I completely understand about not taking on more than you can do, as you know I am in the same boat. It is fun to think about and I am glad that advocacy is moving forward. Thank you so much for your response!
