Challenges with self esteem (high-functioning autism)
I've got some serious problems with my self esteem. No matter how many times I'm told I'm great, all I can seem to see are my "failures." The problems that come up due to my neurodiversity are especially hard for me to accept, because I don't want to be "weird." How the heck do I even start to feel better about myself? My knee-jerk reaction is to try to stop making mistakes.
You are not defined by your mistakes. You are who you are, and you should be proud of that. I'm sure you have plenty of skills and talents that you should take pride in. Don't let your flaws define you, because they don't. Bless you.
Hello fellow neurodivergent person @pinkbunnywabbit I can definitely relate to you, having struggle with self-esteem myself despite all the successes I've had because of ADHD. I too often find it difficult to focus on the things I have achieved. That desire to not be "weird" is totally valid, but do remember that weird is subjective and you're always welcomed in the ND community! 7 Cups is here and we care
