Have you ever been in nursing home?

CheerySandi October 7th

Have you ever been in nursing home? I was in nursing home once when my family went to vacation in order to get some rest, as caring for me was stressfull and they needed some rest. The picture below depicts my experiences with nursing home - lying in nursing bed in room full of elderly women. We got food and care regularly, i have no complaint about it.

Here, nursing homes aren't really set up to take people on a short term basis like that. It's nice that can be an options when needed elsewhere.

I wish we had places where would could check in when needing a bit of extra care, or a usual caregiver isn't free. There are days when I feel less able to do things, and my husband isn't always around.

If such a place existed, there would be a wider range of people there too I'm sure. This allows for activities, conversation topics, etc to not be aimed at just 1 demographic.

@AffyAvo In the UK we have something called 'Respite Care', care homes that people can book into when their carers or family are going on holiday or need a break, that kind of thing.  I know every country is different though, but it seems to work well especially as generations get older.

@CheerySandi, thanks for highlighting this to our community.

@MistyMagic We have some respite programs here, but they are fairly limited. I'm unsure of respite facilities. Medical care beds (facility space) is really lacking.
