Scoliosis

My friend has scoliosis and it squishes her organs and causes her daily pain. She is deeply depressed for the first time in her life. Luckily she is raising money through her gofundmeaccount, and has made enough to get treatment that was recommended to her by someone else who also had scoliosis. My sister had the condition in high school and wore a back brace and it was really embarassing for her and I remember her crying in the bedroom. I have sympathyfor those who have gone through it and empathy for their families <3 Take care of yourself. <3

Thank you for sharing that story, I am so glad she is seeking treatment! My best friend had scoliosis and she used to get bullied about It, it was terrible /: so I much sympathy. She got it fixed though. I wish her the best of luck with treatment :D.

I'd like to mention Kyphosis, which is similar to Scoliosis but quite a bit more rare. I have it and its been horrible. It's the reason I'm permanently disabled and the reason I've had 6 spinal surgeries (4 on the Spine, 2 on the Spinal Cord).

I have scoliosis too. Luckily it's mild, but I still get pain so I don't know how people who have it worse cope!

I found out I had it by accident, through a chest X-ray. I couldn't believe my eyes! I've had back and shoulder pain all my life but growing up I got told it was my fault so I stopped complaining about it out loud.

you sound like a great friend, great friend help so much with chronic pain. You can't take the pain away but it's good to know you're there and have compassion for us.

i send you and your friend love. I've found some Facebook groups helpful. Although be careful with them because some of them are just pity parties.

I have scoliosis too. I had it when I was 8 and wore it until I was 10. I was in elementary school so I didn't care what people thought about it. I thought it was over because my spine was straight again. now I'm 14, going to be a freshman in the fall and my scoliosis is back. I have a back brace but only wear it at night because im petrified of what people will think of me if they know I where it. every time I think about my whole back brace situation it gives me this terrible feeling of stress. any advice??

I struggle with over 90 degrees of scoliosis curvature, but have had to refuse surgery because of expected complications. Only when my organs are smashed, will I worry, but there is annoying pain in the meantime.

i was born with scoliosis, my back is curved like an S. ive never had surgery due to my parents didnt health insurance and they was ignorant to the organizations that would have paid for surgery for free, plus they was ignorant to scoliosis. so now im an adult dealing with alot of pain, bulging discs and degenerative disc desease.

@CuddleCat

You can get your friend to take appropriate pain relievers and also stretch to relieve the pain.
