Depressed
Hi I’m new for this community but I thought that traveling to see my friend would make me happy but I feel depressed and I think it’s because I am in another state that’s kind of depressing
@bubbleLemon2832 Welcome to 7Cups, bubble. Glad to have you here with us. I'm sorry this trip has left you feeling depressed. Traveling to see someone you care about can stir up many emotions. What aspects of being in a new place are making you feel this way?
Sometimes travel can actually be harder because we expect it to make things right. But when your brain chemicals are off they can take a while to repair themselves. What kinds of things are you doing to care for yourself?@bubbleLemon2832
Not really that much because I’m out of state
Think simple stuff. Are you eating okay and drinking water? Are you getting outside? @bubbleLemon2832
Yes and I still feel depressed
It would be so nice to be able to snap it all away. I know how bad that it all feels. Sometimes it helps to realize that you are doing things to help. Keep trying new things to distract yourself. Even 15 minutes of not thinking about the depression matters.
Also, feel free to share here any time. It is better than having it bouncing around in your head. Are you talking to anyone?@bubbleLemon2832
I’m going to talk to my therapist about it soon
Let your friends worry about it a bit with you. Just getting it out of your head every so often helps a lot. You aren't burdening people. You are letting them help you. When you find those who are clueless on how to help, then avoid those people. But there are always some who can help a bit. They are never perfect at it, but it is okay to share.
I talked to my therapist about the situation and I’m feeling better about myself
That is awesome! It is so great when you begin to relieve some of that burden and not have all those bad thoughts just running randomly through your head all the time. Keep up the good work. @bubbleLemon2832
