SAD tips?

intuitiveSpruce6863 November 5th, 2021

So last winter I realized I might have SAD (I already have GAD) because every night the sun went down (especially as days got shorter) I felt a deep sense of dread and hopelessness. I didn’t deal with these feelings well because of other stuff that was happening in my life, but things are better and I want to take care of myself better this winter. Anyone have any good tips for dealing with SAD?

I feel the same way. As soon as the sun starts setting at 5pm it feels like my day is over. Especially when my schedule doesn’t allow me to be out in the morning. I’ll leave the house at 3pm ready to get my day started, but the sun is almost gone. The acclimation process is so hard.

There are lights/lamps that are designed to give you UV rays during the winter, those are pretty neat! I think I’m going to get one.

@intuitiveSpruce6863 I don't know how helpful it might be, but since I was diagnosed last year, I tend to let the SAD come to me and tell myself that at the end of the day, it's not really me feeling this, it's just a bunch of neurons that aren't firing correctly. It helps me remind myself that I'm not always this sad or nervous, and that this is just something people go through. I don't know if it helps, but I hope it might
