What is decompensating?

FoolsSelf March 27th, 2021

I kind of get it. But I don't really. Something to do with shutting down and being unable to verbally speak. Is it with trying to decide what I say? Writing is easier.

@FoolsSelf I Googled it Winking

It's when something is wrong but you don't fix it (or it can't be fixed). Instead, you just find ways to cope—to compensate for whatever is wrong.

Then there comes a time when your coping methods stop working so well. That's decompensation, because your coping methods can no longer compensate for what's wrong.

I don't know your situation, so I can't say what decompensation means specifically for you.
