Alternative therapies?

After being very s**cidal and not well at all since November, I'm starting to feel slightly better the last couple of weeks. I think a change of diet, time off work, and spring coming has helped, but I've also been taking Ginkgo Biloba for a while now...has anyone else tried it? I can't figure out if its a placebo effect, or if it actually has contributed towards me feeling better. I know its recommended for dementia and is supposed to help with brain inflammation (which is supposed to be an issue in depression). I would be interested in hearing about any advice or similar experiences with Gingko Biloba helping depression, so I can figure out if it is actually doing something and whether I should keep taking it

@placidWest9840

hey! i'm glad to hear you're doing well.

the thing with cognitive disorders is that their only cure is therapy and medication. exercising, eating well, avoiding burnouts and all that surely helps and even make you feel a lot better but it's our core beliefs that are affecting us most of the times and in turn our shoulds, musts, needs, etc. are challenged.

if you're taking medications without a psychiatrist's referal, it can turn out to be harmful. i know the medicine you named is herbal but it might cause adverse effects when you are on other medications as well. so it'd be best to reach out to a psychiatrist and also a psychologist, if you need help at any moment you feel like.

sending love and strength your way ❤️

@turtle5678 I'm not currently on any other medication/anti depressants, although I might be soon. I will mention to my doctor that I'm taking it and see what they say, thanks :)
