self-destruct button

Anyone else have that horrible 'button'?

When things seem to be getting better..when you're happy. You just get that feeling that something will go wrong, so you take it upon yourself to end things on your terms. You hit that button. But then..in my case..the people in your life don't quit on you. They remind you how hard you have worked, how much they love you.

Anyone here want to share their stories of that awful feeling, that tempting self-destruct button?

I know this feeling all too well! I have an amazing relationship with my boyfriend but with the way my mind is I often feel like I can't possibly be good enough for him and that he would be much better off without me so I sometimes breakdown and suggest that he finds someone new but he is always brilliant at bringing me back to earth and settling me.

@alittledeer

Yes! same with me. My relationship is a fairly new one, but i have suggested to him that he ends things with me about 2-3times lol! each time he has said why he wants to be with me and he just calms me down. Makes me feel really silly after but also quite secure.

Hey Lucy, I think it's possible for us all to navigate around "the button" if we are fortunate enough to have the support from positive influences surrounding our environment, people who we can trust to steer us in the right direction and provide security and encouragement at certain times of our life is paramount!

I wish you well

Yes, I have a self-destruction button and I often press it. I usually feel insecure and depressed and I think about self-destruction behaviours.
