Professional Help

FeverDreams December 16th, 2014

I was just wondering who here has sought professional help from a counsellor/therapist? Did you find it helpful? What would you say is serious enough to warrant professional help?

Thinking about seeking it again as I feel my problems are too severe and embedded to be fixed simply through talking it out. Wanting to hear from listeners really...would you ever suggest someone seek help for a specific issue? Is anything ever too much for you guys to deal with? :( feeling confused.

I've been to a number of different counselors and psychologists. I would say from experience, that if YOU think your problems are severe enough to go to a counselor, then they probably are. It's not often that you're overly sensitive or your problems are just not big enough, and if your counselor makes you feel that way you should definitely talk to a different counselor instead. Sometimes you just don't click. And though 7cups is a great site it is no replacement for a counselor of course, which you probably already know. Deciding to talk to someone is tough, and up until you've done it a few times it will be tough. Doing it is really good and I encourage it as it has helped me with both small things like managing to get out of the car without panicking and who I should try to sit with at lunch to big things likesuicide prevention. Definitely worth it. *hugs* I'm glad you've decided to! :)
