Ongoing Support
I have been placed on something called the restricted recipient program because my insurance thinks that I visited the ER too many times/unnecessarily during the pandemic. I had like so many months of wheezing and illness and the meds they gave me weren't working. Anyway...I've been sick and wheezing recently and couldn't get in to see my doctor so it was suggested that I go to the urgent care. I went and the xray showed that I have pneumonia. Now I have to wait for my doctor to approve my meds because the urgent care doctor isn't on the list of prescribers. So many hoops to jump through just to get the meds I need to feel better. I'm so frustrated.
Hey Vase. I hope you see this. I started a new thread because the other one isn't showing me the newer posts. It keeps showing from 2 months ago when I click on page 8.
Yes, I can see this just fine. I didn't see it yesterday though.
I am so sorry for all the medical problems. That does indeed sound really frustrating. You don't deserve to get pneumonia because you have to wait. I can't offer any easy solutions though. Have you gotten the meds yet? Hopefully the doctor's office is able to finally put everything in order. @SweetPea321
I cried when they said I couldn't get my nebs, but then they figured it out and gave me all of my medicine. It was a stressful situation. Today my daughter stayed home from school because she's still not feeling good even though she's been on the antibiotic for awhile. I tried to take a nap today but I was still too wheezy. I wish I didn't have to do anything and someone would take care of me. I need a break.
Ok I didn't mean to sound so desperate in that last message. I'll be alright. Always am. Just tired and have no energy.
You are quite allowed to feel overwhelmed any time, especially when you are sick. You are allowed to complain any time too. It doesn't make you weak or less upbeat than you are supposed to be or anything like that. Sometimes life is just tough. Period. There are many times when I have been sick that I have wanted people to care for me when I end up being sick AND having to care for someone else too. It isn't fun.
I hope that tomorrow is better for you. @SweetPea321
Thabk you. I was less tired today. Still wheezy. The nursing home called me and told me that I need to get a new chair for my mom yesterday and today I found the perfect one. It's a gray leather oversized power recliner. She's a plus sized person and sleeps in her chair only and this one is like a chair bed. It's so comfy. I hope she likes it. She's very picky. I had to get leather for easy clean up because she sometimes has an accident. I got some washable chair pads too. It's going to be delivered to her in two weeks. Knowing my mother, she'll find something wrong with it, but I hope she doesn't.
I'm gointo geg
Don't worry about the scrolling. I can tell that it is computer related.
Glad to hear that you are starting to feel a little better. You should feel quite accomplished with your chair purchase. It actually doesn't make a huge amount of difference if she likes it or not because she will adapt to it and it is comfortable. If she reacts poorly at first, it is probably because she doesn't like change (a little like your daughter). Once she gets used to it, she will learn to love it. So don't try to get an immediate reaction. Wait a few weeks.
I am doing okay overall. The next few days are quieter which should be good. @SweetPea321
@SweetPea321
Hi sweetpea.
I know you will be okay, but it is also okay to need a break. You sound a bit like me,but not wanting to put someone else out, but at the same time, wanting someone to come help make it better. I never want to ask, but need help, also. I really want someone to come along and fix everything but realize that is not possible, but letting others help a bit is both hard to ask for and hard to allow. If you are like me, it is also hard to accept when they do come to help but don't quite get it the way I expected. I get mad a myself for being such a brat in those times. I want someone to help me with a home project that will make me a bit more independent, but no one can see my 'vision' of what that looks like. LOL. I want to smack it into them but know I am blessed to still have a few willing to help after all this time. Blessings to you. I hope you find the right help or a way to cope.
So much trouble with posting here lately. I'm sorry fir all of that scrolling. It froze on me.
I'm so sorry to hear that you have pneumonia, SweetPea. I've had it, too. That is a very tiring thing to go through. Are you feeling any better?
Your insurance sounds unreasonable. If they were the patient, they would be labeled 'difficult to work with.'
And you sound like as good of a daughter as you are a mother--terrific. That was very sweet of you to buy a chair that would be good for your Mum.
Take care.
Tree, nice to see you again. How have you been? You had pneumonia too huh? Yeah everybody's sick right now it seems. I try to be a good parent and daughter. Thanks.
Vase, Im still struggling with wheezing and Im having a heck of a time trying to post here and for one on one chat. It keeps freezing and adding space to my messages. What is going on with 7cups?
It is definitely putting giant spaces in your messages. I am not having any trouble with it. Do you use it on the computer or as an app? I stopped doing the app version years ago because it was just too buggy. Have you tried looking for a spot on the site for tech support? I presume that there is one somewhere.
Sorry for the continued wheezing. That can take a while to resolve itself. I am sure that it is very exhausting and frustrating. @SweetPea321
@SweetPea321
Yes, I had walking pneumonia. It was many years ago, but I remember it took all my energy away. I could barely sit up.
How are you feeling now?
Nice to see you here Tree! I hope things are going well this week. @purpleTree4652
Tree and Vase, I use the app and I've never had trouble before. Today I'm doing poorly. I'm dizzy since I woke up and still very wheezy.
I fell into the wall and knocked some pictures over earlier
@SweetPea321
SweetPea, Do you still have meds? It sounds like you're not getting enough oxygen. I'm worried about you. --Dawna
@SweetPea321
Sweetpea,
Are you anywhere near Jax in FL? If you are, I can drive there and help you as much as I can.
Bless your heart, Tree 🤗 Thanks for the offer, but I'm in Minnesota. I have Augmentin and nebs and a rescue inhaler. Still dizzy though. Wish it wasn't the weekend. I'd go in to get evaluated if it was Monday. I'm on a restricted program with my insurance that only allows my doctor and pulmonologist to approve meds
@SweetPea321, ok, i'm glad you have the meds. Hang in there until Monday and go in if you need to.
Did I also see from another posting elsewhere that it is your birthday? If so, happy birthday. Celebrate it later and be sure not to blow out any candles today on low oxygen (just joking there to try to make you smile). @SweetPea321
@SweetPea321 and @bestvase7265
It's your birthday, sweetpea? happy, happy birthday! thank you for posting that, vase!
Do get that checked out pretty soon okay? I agree with PurpleTree that getting enough oxygen is important. You also want to make sure that it isn't COVID related. Neither of us is close enough to help, but we are going to be thinking about you a lot until we hear something. @purpleTree4652 @SweetPea321
Thank you Vase and Tree. They gave me a Covid test when I I initally went in, so no Covid. I'm still dizzy. I may go in tomorrow after my physical therapy appointment.
@SweetPea321
Good idea, Sweetpea. I hope you do go in.
@SweetPea321
P.S., I put in a support ticket to have them look at this thread about the long spaces. I hope they do something.
That's why I've been keeping the messages short because it seems the longer I take to post the more space gets added. I miss talking regular on here. I hope the problem stops soon.
We are thinking about you lots and hoping that things are a bit better today. @SweetPea321
@SweetPea321, @BestVase7265
Hi, SweetPea,
How are you feeling today? Did you end up going to the doctor?
I have no idea how to do that. You will have to show me sometime. @purpleTree4652
@bestVase7265, and @sweetpea321
I copies the address from this conversation. Do you know what I mean? It's up in the address bar. Then I went to Terms at the bottom of the page and clicked on Support & Feedback. I just choose the closest options on the Support & Feedback page and then ask if they can fix the problem. And I give them the address for this conversation.
Great job. I haven't had to use it yet, but it is nice to know.@purpleTree4652
@purpleTree4652
Thanks Tree. I'm posting from my laptop since it's not working on the app. I ended up not going in because the dizziness finally stopped and there was an emergency with my mom.
@SweetPea321,
I can understand why you're wiped out. That is a lot to handle. I'm glad you're not dizzy anymore. That is an improvement.
Thank God your Mum is in a nursing home. I hope the injections help her.
The physical therapist may be able to give you some ideas about all of it as well. I know that weekdays are easier than weekends for you so I am hoping that tomorrow is fantastic. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
I'm posting from my laptop instead of my phone because the thread isn't working for me on the app. It won't let me click on page 2 to see the latest posts. I am feeling tired. Still wheezy, but not dizzy anymore. Yesterday my Mom was sent to the ER, so we were with her for 8 hours there. Her legs and feet are so swollen because she refuses to take her Furosemide med. She also has an infection on her legs and they kept trying to get her to take the antibiotic, but she refused. They asked me if she should have an injection of Olanzepine (anti-pyschotic) and I said yes. She also got an injection of the antibiotics. The injections were against her will, but she needed them. She was mad at me and I felt bad for her, but she gave me a hug at the end. Today the nursing home called me and asked if it was ok to continue the injections and I said yes. I was so wiped out from being at the ER so long that I overslept and my daughter was two hours late to school today.
I have so many appointments these next weeks, I'm already tired thinking of them.
It sounds like everything is pretty overwhelming right now even as you begin to feel better.
You absolutely did the right thing with your mom. The injections are going to help her whether she gets mad about them or not. You need to do what keeps the people around her and caring for her safe. They will care for her much better that way. She really isn't in a state where she can make those decisions correctly for herself. But I know it must be so hard to go against what she wants.
Try not to think about all of the appointments that you have. One day at a time is fine for right now. It is also okay that you overslept. You failed no one. You are allowed to get tired.
Sending lots of energizing hugs your direction. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
Thanks for the hugs, Vase 🤗 Today I had my daughter's IEP meeting and tomorrow I have my mother's care conference. I quit physical therapy to eliminate some of the appointments. My knee has been feeling good since the cortisone shot. I'm only slightly wheezy. Maybe I'm over the worst of the sickness now.
How are you doing?
Glad to hear that things feel a little calmer today. You will get through the meetings. It is good that you are finally feeling a bit better.
I am doing okay so far this week. The week is a little less stressful which I needed. Our spring break is only a week and half away now.@SweetPea321
@purpleTree4652
Thanks for the support, Tree. I'm feeling a little better today. Mama is doing alright now. Hope you're alright too 🙂
@SweetPea321
I'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better. I just wish you didn't have to quit the physical therapy. You know what is best, though.
I don't know how I'm doing. I picked an apartment to move to in another state and they approved my application and gave me a quote for the rent. Then every time I talk to them the rent goes up. It is hard to face life sometimes. I'm not independently wealthy, The apartment complexes do this because they know people aren't rich and that they are stuck.
Vase & Tree, I'll be back tomorrow. I'm in the ER waiting for my CT scan results. I think it's kidney stones again. My back is hurting so bad.
I am so, so sorry. Kidney stones can be so painful. Let us know how you are doing. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
Hi Vase. Doing alright today. I've been drinking plenty of fluids and I took a nap this afternoon. I really hope they fix the app soon, so I don't have to get out my laptop every time to read and post. Yesterday I had excruciating pain. Today so far...none. Weird. I'll take none though :D
On the way home from the doctor the check engine light came on (sigh). I took it to O'Reilly's and they did the free diagnostic and found it to be the catalytic converter, which I just got replaced. So I went back to the guy that did it and we made an appointment on the 15th to get it checked out. I have an appointment at a different mechanic to get the remainder of the issues fixed because the other guy can't do all that. I may not get to see my Dad and eldest daughter in March like I planned. I have too much going on. April will be better for a visit I think. Better weather and I'll have the car fixed and new tires.
So...how's life?
Glad that today was better in terms of pain. I guess that you could hope that you passed the stone? That would be nice. But any day away from pain is a relief I am sure.
Sorry about the car. Sometimes those things pile up. Visiting in April will be just as nice as March.
I am doing okay. Hearing some weird noises in the bathroom wall this evening and hoping that we don't have a trapped mouse or rat. Ugh. The cats are excited. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
Oh no, a mouse in the house! At least you have cats. They can hunt the littel pest. I am posting on the website on my phone, instead of the app and it's still putting space in my messages. No other problem with my phone. How frustrating! I already don't feel like doing anything as it is. Don't want to get my laptop out to read and post. I feel overwhelmed by daily life lately. Everything is such a chore and I don't feel like going through the steps. It's times like this I wish my Mom was around to help babysit so I could get a break.
The check engine light in my car went off. Hopefully it stays off.
It is really frustrating using the app for me at all. I am on my computer all the time though and don't have any problem with it. The keys are bigger anyway.
I can understand the lack of motivation piece. You have been sick for a while and you still have to care for your daughter rather than recovering. Hopefully she is in school tomorrow which will give you a break. You will find that motivation again. Give yourself a little time.
It sounds like your engine light is like my possible animal noises. The noises have now stopped so we aren't going to call anyone in unless they start again.
A new week starts tomorrow and it is going to be better than last week. @SweetPea321
@SweePea321
Oh noooooooooooooo. We wish you a speedy recovery.
@purpleTree4652
Thanks Tree. I'm doing better today. So what's going on with your apartment situation? Is your rent subsidized or something? Mine is and my rent will be going up this summer too because I'm making more money now.
@SweetPea321
My quoted rent did go up once. They said the info they gave me was wrong. It went up $33. But the next 2 times I thought it went up was them giving me an adjusted rent based on what day I move in. I was wrong. I misunderstood. I wish my rent was subsidized. How often does your rent go up?
I hope that pneumonia leaves completely, real soon.
@purpleTree4652
Thanks Tree. I'm over pneumonia now. No more wheezing (yay!) Once a year they review my info for rent and it goes up or down based on my income. This summer it'll go up because of my job and I suppose my daughter's SSI.
I'm sorry they keep giving you different quotes for rent. It's like...c'mon let me know the final price so I can figure out my budget already!
@SweetPea321
Yay! The pneumonia is gone!
That's almost a sin that they would raise your rent. You are not independently wealthy. I hope it doesn't go up much for you. The housing situation in this country is bad.
Ok, I got the final price for rent. I misunderstood them. It's still much better than where I am living now. I'm a little apprehensive because I usually make mistakes, and I'm waiting to see where my mistake is going to pop up. But I'm also looking forward to it. Today for some reason I had a sense of fear overtake me. I think that is my body chemistry.
Tomorrow's a clean slate, and a new day to get through.
Good night.
--Dawna
@purpleTree4652 Dawna is your name? Cool. I went to school with a girl named Dawna and she was the popular it girl. Anyway... I can't complain about my rent really because I live in a nice townhome and pay low rent for it. The most my rent can be raised to is $400 a month. The surrounding townhomes are not subsidized. Only my place is. Still nobody wants to pay more than they have to. I'm just happy to be in a good, clean neighborhood now.
I hope you're having a good day.
@bestVase7265
Why is there no reply button to newer messages on the website? I'm on my laptop again.
I practiced gratitude today, but I'm struggling to find something to look forward to in the day. I look forward to my daughter going to bed at night so I can just relax, but I want to find some peace during the day. I'm still having trouble taking showers and combing my hair. I never used to be this way. I don't know what happened to me. Am I just consumed with the weight of the world on my shoulders because of the legal issue with my mom's money? I've started to pay that back, but that doesn't change the fact that I borrowed while she was deemed a vulnerable adult. Will I go to jail? Will I lose my job? Home? Daughter?
I feel like I'm in more than a wave of depression. I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I need to lose weight and get my energy level up. Depression is draining the life out of me! I have faith that life will improve eventually, but it's taking forever.
And how are you tonight?
Sometimes the reply button is there and sometimes it isn't. I just put a message at the bottom if I can't find anything. I am doing fine.
You have been hit with a lot in the last few weeks especially. The depression that has resulted from it is not your fault. It is causing you to worry more about the long term than you need to. That causes you to not have the short term motivation that you need. It is a vicious cycle where you have to give yourself tons of brownie points for trying. Every little small thing that you do helps breaks the cycle.
But you can also use some extra help right now. Have you reached out to your therapist? @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
I see my therapist about once a month because she's busier now. I will talk to her about my depression next time we visit.
I took a shower today after my nap. I felt better once I did that. thing else reaLly to report. Having trouble posting right now. I'm on my phone. So I will say, take care and hugs 🤗
You can ALWAYS get in touch with your therapist early if you are struggling. They want to hear from you even if they are busy. Even a short phone appointment can be better than nothing.
Glad to hear that you were able to shower. That is good. Do it again tomorrow. You will always feel better afterwards. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
Hey Vase. I think I have an upcoming therapy appointment. Today I went to a jewelry store and ordered a solid gold nameplate necklace for my eldest daughter to go with the perfume gift set and lips purse. I'm so excited for her birthday. She'll be 17 on April 5th. That was fun, shopping. Then I got hit with the news that I'll be losing my job on May 11th. I didn't know it was going to end, but apparently they were only allowing parents to be PCA of their own children during COVID. I misunderstood and thought that was permanent. I totally bummed now.
I am so sorry about the job thing. Give yourself some time to process it.
I know that this is a night that I should be typing more, but I am going to have to cut it short. My day was a little crazy and I have at least 3 work emails to send out and it is already 10 pm. My son is in a drama competition this week which runs really late. I will try to write during the day. I am so sorry. @SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
Hi Vase 🤗 How are you doing? Is life hectic this week? I had my mother's care conference today. Because she has been refusing getting washed up and using the toilet and continuous hallucinations the judge had appointed someone to be her guardian. The guardian said she would do whatever the doctors recommend, which is what I'd do too, but still wish it was me who was her guardian. I tried to figure it out awhile back but there were like 60 links on the state's guardian page and it was too confusing. I couldn't afford a lawyer to help me. I'm glad that my mom has a guardian now. It may not be me, but this lady can help her.
The other day I had my daughter's assessment for PCA services. There's a possibility of another program where I can make money. They'll be contacting me about it.
I can finally type again tonight. It has been a really, really long week. Nothing like some of the stuff that you have been going through, but it is been exhausting.
As I said, my youngest son is in a 4 day state drama competition and it has meant a huge amount of driving into a city I don't know very early in the morning and very late at night. Luckily someone else brought him back across the bridge tonight. They performed today and did well. It will finally end tomorrow.
I am also definitely in some trouble medically that I am going to have to figure out later next week. When the IUD was first put in I was fine overall after the first day. But when it came time for my cycle, I got pretty slammed. I am now on day 13 or so with a cycle and headaches that I normally don't have. I was told by another doctor that the kind of IUD is probably wrong. So it is back to the drawing board.
Anyway, good to hear that your mother will be more settled and can get the treatment that she needs but thinks that she doesn't. Sorry about the 4 day weekend. There has been so much snow this winter. I hope that the job thing will get figured out in the next bit for you.
@SweetPea321
@bestVase7265
God bless you, Vase. I'm so sorry that the doctors got it wrong. We're not cars. I guess I can say at least it wasn't a knee replacement or a hit replacement that they got wrong. But still. Damn. You deserve a medal for what you're going through. If you need any help, I'm not far as you know. My offer still stands to help if you need it. :)
I am doing fine. It will get figured out eventually. Normal people handle medication much better than I do. My body has a tendency to overreact to it. The normal IUD which lasts longer probably is something that my body doesn't like. I went through at least two years (and 4 psychiatrists) before I found meds that worked in that regard. And it involves taking a quarter or less of what a normal person takes. @purpleTree4652
We've had Two days off from school due to the weather. Ugh, 4 day weekend 😱
@SweetPea321
Hi, SweetPea,
Sorry to hear about the 4 day weekend. O.O I hope it goes quickly for you.
I'm glad to hear your Mum was appointed a guardian. I wish it was you, too, but I agree with you that it is good even it isn't you. Maybe it will give you a break. What do you think?
