My depression says I'm alone, no one cares. I'm invisible.

Maybe your mind is subconsciously trying to distance you from people because you have been hurt. Be around caring and empathetic people and you will see that you are surrounded with friends.

My Therapist said this is what depression do. I'd call her a 'she'. So.. She says that because she wants you for herself. I think everyone is so beautiful, no matter what. Maybe she knows how cool you are. I know the feeling but you can fight against it.

Your mind is ill. Just as if you had a physical illness, self-care and be being gentle and kind to yourself are important strategies to help you heal. Hand in there. You matter! @enthusiasticPond5679

@LJBedardMACounsellingPsychology Thanks. I don't like to think of my mind as ill, because it is a talented, good one. I think I would not have been inspired to accomplish and do what I do if I had not experienced depression and anxiety at a young age. Learning to be gentle with myself when feeling bad and wanting relief is challenging. Getting support from others really helps a lot when I'm too weak to pull myself out of the slump.

@enthusiasticPond5679 I guess we all conceptualize ourselves and our challenges in different ways. I totally get you appreciating that dealing with depression and anxiety has helped shape who you are. I feel the same way about the hardships I have experienced. I guess I don't view being ill as a weakness and so could definitely see being ill alongside a talented and intelligent mind and still know that the illness is not the totality of a person. As for being gentle with oneself, I think that is something we all struggle with, and when our thoughts are coloured by darkness it makes it all the more difficult. Still, we must strive on, right? I hope your mind is at ease this evening and that despite the difficulty, you can find a way to be gentle with yourself, even it means just not being unkind to yourself :) I'm glad the community helps you when you need support.
