Does persistent sadness ever go away ?

NotFound20 May 15th, 2023

Does persistent sadness ever leaves us ? Is it possible to feel happy ever again ?

I have been depressed since many years but it was manageable that time. Now I feel like I cant take it anymore. Medications, exercise, therapy nothing works. I feel like I am back to square one. Dont know if I will be able to overcome this .

@NotFound20

When we are depressed, we have negative thoughts about self (self-criticism), about the world (general negativity), and about our future (hopelessness). These negative thought patterns maintain the depressed mood.Almost everyone who is depressed thinks self-critical thoughts. The thoughts are damaging because they contribute to low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and relationship problems, and they can interfere with our willingness to do things to help us feel better.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you.

@NotFound20 Living with depression is very difficult. You sound like you have been working very hard to feel better. Any chronic illness has its bad days and days that are maybe alittle better. On those bad days be gentle with yourself and care for yourself like you would a friend, on the days that are alittle better, enjoy even a few moments of relief. I hope the good days soon outnumber the bad days.

@NotFound20 Hey. I am sorry that you're feeling this way. It must feel frustrating to try many things and them to not work. What I can tell you is that it gets better and you will be happy. Perhaps those methods you've tried were not suitable for you. You can try something else - try new hobbies, think about new ideals. I wish you the best of luck! <3

It sounds like you feel devastated. Nothing seems to be going your way, despite trying. You seem resilient for trying all of this out and being open to treatment. Persistent sadness is often responsive to treatment, sometimes, it just takes a long time. You got this.

@NotFound20  I'm sorry to hear you are going through such a hard and discouraging time. It sounds like you're saying you've tried multiple options and none of them have worked. You sound like a fighter based on what you said you have tried.

@NotFound20 from my experience it will. It's just too slow. I have bad days and good days but it the bad ones keep getting shorter and less frequent. I take vitamins and minerals for stress and depression because it sucks all of the energy out of you. It helps.

Hello dear friend,
It is totally normal to feel hopeless after all these years trying out all those mechanisms but I'm very glad you openly searched for help, because you are not giving up and that is what matters. Have you tried improving your interpersonal relationships?

Also, feel free to text me privately if you want to talk more, I'd be very happy to listen!
